Guys some one sent me a link to a 451 snow blower for my 1512D, here is the issue? will it fit my 1512? what is the difference from a 450? which would be better if any? HELP !!!!!

Don: Even I, who loves to play "click the mouse and search" can't seem to find what the difference is between 450/451. I'm under the impression that they're the same blower with different gearing and/or pulleys?
On a different note, although Aroostook has had its turn in the barrel, and will undoubtably have it again, it's kind of nice this morning to BE WARMER THAN PARTS OF FLORIDA!

Frank C .. I think one spins faster but I can`t remember which is which lol. And If a 451 will work on my 1512 D . I do want to buy the right blower as its a little distance from here lol. Later Don T

Here is a shot of my PTO. just what belt size does this take? The blower will work if I change the PTO over to a bigger size? Thanks for your help. Later Don T

Don-

All 82 series tractors use a 5/8" belt. I suppose you could put a bigger clutch on there, but then you won't be able to use older decks because they'll run too fast. I think it'd be simpler to just find the right blower. Finding another clutch is going to be difficult and expensive. I *think* one from a late 1782 could work, but I might be wrong.

I run my 450 blower on the 1650 and the 782D with no problems using a full 1/2" non cogged belt.
Is actually seems to fit super tight in the pulley groove of the blower, and grabs better. JMHO

Matt & Charlie,, There is a real nice shape 451 snow blower on epay now with a buy it now of $400.00 . I would buy it and have it mover to where Frank C can get it and hold it for me. I also want to run a deck from my 149 on this tractor so I guess i`ll have to waite and find the right one. Later Don T

I am a little confused. I also own a 1512D but I have a few differences with my dash. I don't have that little handle I have circled in RED or (I believe) the zigzag in the control on the right I circled in BLUE Can someone tell me what the item in RED is used for?

The handle circled in blue is just like yours. The handle circled in red doesn't belong...it's one of the many PO mods on Don's poor tractor...

Yep i`am kind a lost here as to what should be lol on this 1512D , but that is(red) my fuel shut off on this Diesel. the rearend is in now and moveing on to rear cover and fluid another day.I will have to thread the plate I made to use it so 4 inserts will have to put in so the driveshaft can be checked for length. I`am sure Matt could do this some better way, but i`ll just plug along and see what happens.
183630.jpg

Brakes have to be installed also and some new wheel studs on Friday. The drive shaft I hope will have the inserts in stalled and bolts made up for then. I will be starting a 104 in two weeks and an O , so lots to do. Later Don T

Thanks Matt & Donald. I thought I was missing something on my 1512D. I wasn't sure about the control lever (circled in blue in my picture below) and didn't even remember to look at it last night when I plowed. But, I am sure you are correct. My 1512D is NOT pretty, just useful.

I`am off to town to pick up the drive shaft as the plate we made need a few things changed to work and I have to ask what grease I should use with the CV drive shaft. ??? I`am thinking that it should have CV grease for a car. Can someone fill me in on this . Thanks Don T

I will be doing a test fit today later and will use regular grease for now .
Later Don T

More done and I`am still at it.Picked up the front adapter and I just have to cut them to the right length

Now I got four extra holes but I can use it. I no enginer. lol

Looks like that dog should be barkin' soon !!!!

Well Its 15 3/8" from center of the front plate to center on the back plate. The shaft rear spine alows moremovement in the rear spline. So I`ll center the difference unless someone tells me different. This is my first drive shaft mod on a tractor(might not be my last(loader)). I will cut and center pin the shaft and get a friend to weld it lol.

Done for today lol. I had the D running and can`t wait till I can bolt the seat on...

Donald,

It is looking good.... as far as the driveshaft you are correct to split the min/max dimensions. Just insure that there is no endloading of the crankshaft, to save the thrust bearings. I look forward to it moving under it's own steam soon.
