Wow, whatever machine shop you contacted must not have wanted to do the job if they quoted that high of a price. That would be like a 30-minute job on my lathe, and probably less than that on something larger and nicer.

Sandpaper and a sheet of glass will take awhile to flatten the pressure plates, but will work good enough unless they are warped. . There are new aftermarket ones available as well. The release lever looks fine. It has black paint on it, so I'm guessing that was replaced at some point with a new one.

The transmission input shaft is broken off and needs to be replaced. I'm amazed that was even working at all with it like that. Thanks to the popularity of these tractors in tractor pulling, this part is available new aftermarket for a fairly reasonable price: https://mwsc.co/collections/transmission-parts/products/front-pinion?variant=30453649291

The wear, if any, on the clutch release lever would be on the back side (not pictured) as well as the holes on the top of it.
Does not look like the adjusting nut has even been unscrewed so how could the clutch be properly adjusted??
Read the service manual for all the clutch info.

I have access to a cub cadet "graveyard" I may try and salvage a shaft out of one of them.
