Lewis-

HVLP gun is a bit more ergonomic, so only one blister this time

Turn that plate over and I bet that slot lines up with the spring assist...

Matt.
good for you,I hate paper cuts also.
In the installation manual I have for the NF spring assist It does not mention flipping this over.

Lewis-

I'm thinking it's supposed to face the other way so the slot is on the left. Someone at the factory could have put it on bassackwards. It wouldn't be the first time I've seen a factory mistake.

Matt,
I went out to check and see if a spring assist would work, and it does not clear the slot.

Harry,
Sorry, I didn't bring home a hydro, but I got the next best thing; a 100. Got home just in time for church, and by the time we got back home it was dark.(needed to get the wife to church to help calm things down at home.

) Two cubs in two days can really get some excitement going on at home!

hey guys!! I have 682, and i am putting a 46GT deck on it - i know a couple of people have done this before, and i am wondering what belt was used (motor to deck) i am having trouble finding one that will work. do you just get one for the CC that the 46GT deck came from?? what number CC did this deck get used on? please help, ive got the deck and mule drive mounted to my 682, just need a belt now, any part numbers would be great!!!

thanks a ton guys!!

Marty - you really know how to hurt a guy. The only gear drive I ever wanted was a 100. Now you have to go and get one. BUT I want one with fenders, so I guess it ain't so bad (it looks like it's in pretty decent shape - but if you decide you really have to many, well drop me an e-mail and I'll be there to pick it up shortly).
One other thing I was wondering tho - did you have time to pick your wife up at the church???

Lanny; Your 169 is probally out on timeing. That same thing happened to mine and ended up destroying the rings. I static timed the engine and it starts and runs better than it ever did before. After i static timed i check the point gap and it was .016 IIRC.

Question about the clutch driving plate (128 K301)
There are three pins that drive the clutch assembly.
Mine are worn a bit. Are the pins replaceable or do you replace the entire plate.
Thanks,
Bob B

ROBERT B. - A little wear on those clutch pins is understandable on an almost 40 yr old machine. If you have one or more of the anti-rattle springs in place on those pins in the clutch there really isn't any harm with them being worn a bit. The clutch friction plate has to float between the two clutch plates, the stationary and movable one, so the clutch releases completely.

The big question is, How much is a "bit"?

The next newer model of CC, the quiet line models had a flexible clutch disc because the engine was rubber-mounted and moved around. That disc tended to fatigue and crack and replacement of the whole disc was normal but your drive disc is much heavier and normally won't flex or crack.
If you need to install a new teaser spring or throw-out bearing, or remove the engine for another reason it would be advisable to replace the pins, but I wouldn't pull the engine or clutch just to replace those pins for a little wear.

Lewis, interesting slot on your 70. I've never seen that before.

Perhaps Paul B. or Craig C. have some ideas on what it's for.

Thanks.

The 70 didn't come with a steering column.I put a steering column from a 70 that I had and the clutch release lever hits it.I see on the 71 there is a notch on that one to clear it.Are the columns different? In the parts manual I have it shows no notch.

Hello: Need a new coil for CCO 4740. Anyone out there know of a NAPA part number that will work?

Mark

Regarding the clutch plate pins being worn a bit.
The plate I'm looking at is on an engine I picked up at Little G. The bad engine is still in the tractor. Being a complete newbie to the CC world I don't know what anti-rattle or teaser springs are? Maybe I should go ahead and pull the engine first?
