ART - You REALLY do need a PLASMA CUTTER don't you!

Local Sears hardware store had a Craftsman Sleeve Hitch blade marked down for 35 dollars. Opened the box to find out it was made by Brinly. Purchased it and made some mods to it for my 1450 quietline.

As you can see I fabricated a wear edge for the blade and attached some scarfing teeth. Limited trials indicated the need for a non-floating lift straps to allow the use of down pressure, so off I go to fabricate a set of them.

Rob-
Neat mod. I wonder what would happen if you threw an extra wheel-weight on top of that blade?

Denny-
I find that my grinding skills are inversely proportional to my welding skills.

Robb,
That's sounds like a great deal. I wonder if my Sears would have one for that price.....

Art, that grinder/crank repair story reminds me of the time you were using your 59M shredder/grinder while wearing sandals and shorts... well at least you had on safety glasses and ear plugs.

Kraig,
There was a picture posted of him at RPRU, and he had on real shoes........must have lost his sandals

I think I stated it is a 147 has 14 hp kohler.the problem is not fuel.it all started when I left it outside.it rained,I went to start it and it popped.no start.I started checking and found water in the top of the coil.changed the coil poor spark.changed the condensor.ran for ten minutes and coil was getting hot and stalled.changed coil and condesor with known good spare.now it starts and runs then dies in about 2 minutes.let it set for 30 seconds start right up,then dies again in 30 seconds.

Todd, here is a wiring diagram, sounds like something might have been connected wrong when you changed parts. Also be sure to check the condition of the points.

Thanks for the compliment. MSRP on the Sears blade was $199. I think somebody special ordered it in 2006 and never paid off the balance. The box had somebodys name on it.

My intent would be to use it for roughing up the ground for foodplots.

ART - I have a real good assortment of grinders also, everything from the Dremel my Wife gave Me 31 yrs ago up to a 15A 4HP 9" B&D angle grinder. That includes a pair of DeWalt 4-1/2", a Milwakee 4-1/2", Craftsman 1/4" elec. die grinder, three air 1/4" die grinders, two more Dremels, and an assortment of sanders.

Those "Blue Boxes" in Our shops kinda make grinders a necessity! I've got enough grinding discs & wheels in my shop to last a real welding shop about a year!
