I am having trouble getting Travis F. to email me back on a tractor I am intersted in. If somebody sees him online, please let him know I am trying to get ahold of him. Thanks Mike

Mike T.
I don't think anyone knows a Travis F. on this forum.
But you might read the board posting rules just in case you have not already.

Norm as far as I know I've never seen magnets available by themselves. I have seem guys epoxy them back in. some lasted some didn't.

My bad its Travis S of CCspecialties. Hard to support this sites vendors if they dont respond to numerious emails. I would hope if they are going to advertise items for sale, then they would return emails. Poof this if you must, I am just trying to support vendors from here. Thanks Mike

Mike "T",
I'm sure I don't know all of the details, but some of us have daytime jobs and no access to the computer.

Don & Digger,

This stator seems different than the picture I've seen of others. One magnet covers two or three posts. Also I picked up some PB blaster & soaked it. Still won't budge. I'll let it set overnite & try again tomorrow.

The form archives prove a valuable source of information once again. After a quick search and then referring to my manual I think I found the problem!!! My electric PTO on Stinky would not work after I turned it off half way through mowing. When I came back after dinner and it worked?!?!?

Found a post on the gap, so I checked my gap and WOW my gap is in the high 20's low 30's?!?!? How the heck did it work in the first place being that far out????

Well I will adjust it and see what happens next mowing.

Hello all,

I have been lurking for a while in anticipation of getting an old 122.. Lots of great contributions by all that share and I hope that I can do the same when I get some experience with this thing. I am going to use it to replace my JD165 because it is a lot more capable of a machine and I hope cuts grass just as well(but that is for a different post).

I do have one thing that is a little problematic. The front pto clutch disc appears to be bonded to the drive pulley and wont release making the deck spin all the time. I have the parts diagram from when someone replaced it in the past and I think I know how it works, but don't know the best way to get it loosened up without damaging anything. Any ideas?

Thanks

Chad

Digger:

You've scanned some manual pages that I can actually READ! I assume these are from an original manual, not some scummy reprint like I got from my local cub dealer? The ones I have are trash, hard to see, very high contrast and blocked up blacks making it difficult to see what is being demonstrated especially in the pictures.

Please let me know these are just (good quality) copies that I'd be anxious to spend my money on (and perhaps privately email me where you got them). Or dash my hopes and tell me the scan is from an original manual, rarer than the Guttenberg Bible, and manuals of this quality are no longer available without giving up lifetime season tickets to the Packers.

Which kind manual do you have, reprint or original? Those scans are marvelous.

My PTO seems to slip a bit under a load.
I have replaced 15, 16, 14, 12, 13, 20, 19, 18, 17, 22, and the fiber disk.
I have adjusted according to the specifications.
Is it very common to install 2 item #14's?
Or is there another problem.
The fiber disk might have gotton grease on it.
I did clean it with brake cleaner and I sanded it with 80 grit to rough up.

Thanks,

Dale R,
To be very honest, I can't remember exactly where those pages came from, BUT, there's not much doubt that Kraig M. had something to do with scanning them. You see, Kraig is the Keeper of the Photo's on the forum here and he has EVERYTHING and then some!!!!!!!!!!
Those are original manual pages saved on my puter.
Here's a small sample of one section of one of the 3 HD's on one puter.
I'd hate to think how many GIG Kraig has, I know I have more than 1000 gig of info at my disposal/fingertips. That ain't sayin I can find everything I want though, LOL

On my 782 did IH use any kind of primer? I was told instead of sanding down all the old paint to bare metal, just to sand it some and feather in all the scratches and paint chips then hit it with a fresh layer of paint. Is that a good way to go about it or should I really sand it down to bare metal?

Richard C,
Your royalty payment will hit the mail first thing in the morning in the form of some little washers.

Charlie,
The PTO bearing had sprayed some of its bearing grease on the fiber disk. I suspect that the slipping clutch heated up and caused the bearing to push out its grease. I cleaned the disk with brake cleaner but I was concerned that the grease might have been pushed into the pores of the disk. That is why I used an orbital sander on both sides to freshen up the surfaces.

I used the 759-3490 to setup the clutch. I have seen a couple of clutches with both the 759-3490 and the 759-3489 on them. Thats why I am asking.
I was also wondering if a slipping NF PTO is common. I am using a 48" deck.
Thanks

Hello chaps,

Long time since I posted but I thought you'd all like to see my new Plough(plow) I got on epay. All I have to do now is work out a hitch for it!

The trouble is it has no makers plate, just a casting mark. All the dimensions on it work out to metric measurements rather than inch so it may be from this side of the pond somewhere.
Don't know how old it is but it has never been in the ground the landside and share show no signs of wear at all.

Has anyone got any ideas on who the maker might be or what it is supposed to mount on? The previous owner didn't have a clue.

Charlie, the Forum Archives (text and photos) and manual and brochure scans that I have add up to about 5.12GB. If you count all the Plow Day photos and Red Power Photos and extra Cub Photos then it's more than 10GB.)

I think the manual in question was lent to me by Steve Blunier but I could be wrong. So many people have kindly lent me their original manuals and brochures to scan that I don't recall who lent what. I sure am grateful to them though.
