Hi I'm the happy owener of a Cub 100 I hate to sound like a newbie but when you talk about serial number on the right side all I can find look like a casing number is that it? 385058R1 or is there a plate with a stamping that I'm missing

John R- Check the FAQ's up above, just below the pictures. #10 shows you where to look, and #28 tells you when your Cub Cadet was made. You are right that the number you have is a casting no.

Roland Beedle, thanks for the offer to send the instruction manual for the hydraulic lift retrofit. I would appreciate it if you send it to me. I've been cleaning out and straightening up my workshop since Thursday. I haven't been able to read the forum since then. Have plenty of room now for some real serious Cub work.

Thanks again,

John-David Reaves

Roland Bedell.

Sorry, didn't mean to misspell your last name, Roland.

Hi, thanks for the wonderful sight, having been in the lawnmower buisness since 1984 I quess really I'm a newcomer to the quality of some of the older equipment. Which brings me to the question I have concerning this 1450 IH Cub Cadet that I just recently aquired.Having been in storage since 1989,I had to rebuild the carb and put a fresh battery on,well, it fired right up and ran pretty smooth, the problem is that the hydro speed selector won't stay put and it slows down on slopes and speeds up on the downhill, also the deck won't lift at all. What should I do to correct these problems. Thanks Dan Sargent

Daniel S:

Sounds like you have three (3) different problems.

(A) Check the fluid level in the rear end to see if it is at the "full level". Since it has been a long time, you may want to consider a fluid and filter change.

(B) You have "Hydro Creeper" and the link Jeff referred you to will address that.

(C) It is normal for a Hydro Tractor to gain/loose speed going up/down a hill. Hydro is a type of drive, not cruise control.

John-David:

No problem and the Manual has been sent to your E-mail address.

Hey Everybody,
I reassembled the 105 over the weekend and I have a few issues.
1. The tractor Would turn over, but not fire unless I put fuel in the cylinder then fired right up. Is this a carb issue?
2. Since I moved the machine manually, it will not turn over, I hear a click but nothing. I charged put the charger on the battery thinking I might have worn it down and that was not the case, I hear a click when I turn key but it's not turning anything over.

Kevin, here's a wiring diagram to help you trouble shoot. Are you sure the "Neutral Safety Switch" on the brake pedal is being properly depressed when you press down on the pedal? There should be a spring steel paddle that's about 1" wide and 3" long mounted on the brake rockshaft that presses the "Neutral Safety Switch" when you press the brake down for starting. Seeing as you are getting hte solonoid to click the "Neutral Safety Switch" is likely being depressed. Check the rest of the wiring connections, perhaps you have a wire in the wrong place.

Thanks, I will check the switch. Any idea about the fuel issue. As I said everything cranked over the first night and fired up "ONLY" when I put fuel in the cylinder. The carbaretor bowl had fuel in it, I am not sure if fuel was getting anywhere past that point and I don't know how to test it either.

Kevin, is the fuel shut off valve on the sediment bowl turned on? Have you cleaned the sediment bowl? Is there fresh fuel in the sediment bowl? Have you cleaned the carburetor? Is there gas in the carburetor float bowl? All stuff to check when you have fuel flow issues.

Kraig McConaughey "Keeper of the Photos" (Kmcconaughey)Finaly out in my Cub Shack playing at my Cubs. New muffler and all new tires for the 147.Have to install a new Carb and was wondering if i`am useing the right grill screen on a 147? Just a few issues with the pto and lights and mower deck. But i think next year she will be the new to me mow tractor. Later Don T

Has anyone ever fabricated a home made "Johnny Bucket?"

Thanks Kraig, I have fuel all the way to the Carb bowl. I have not cleaned the carb yet, I am wondering if that might be the issue or if it is something else. I have a new tank, bowl etc coming, so I will wait till all of that is on before I play with the carb.

Thanks again, I am very excited to see how well she runs.

Kevin, if you have not cleaned the carb, I would certainly suspect that it needs to be cleaned.

Don T., yes that is the correct grill screen and BTW the correct headlight panel for a 147. However the grill shell should be yellow not white, though it does look distinctive with it white, kinda like an IH 1206. Looking good with those new tires!

Made some progress on my Original refurb this weekend. I got the clutch assembly installed. I still need the locking collar for the drive shaft bearing and the axle pivot bolt, they have been ordered but the axle pivot bolt is on backorder.

Wife called from her car, said to check out the new Cubbie down the road (guy just moved in a short time ago). Obviously poor taste in Cubs (I'll have to shield my eyes every time I go past his house..)

Kraiq that is going to be a fine cub. Hrs are piling up i bet.
Now i will change this head and add the new muffler and tin that i have. Hope to have it running( didn`t want to beat Frank C) well he is my Cub part man lol. This will run today

KENDELL - Only thing I see bad about that 125 is it needs some "Attachments" and someone put the hood ornament on backwards. Really straight old tractor!

Kendell, that is a nice condition 125! Perhaps you should go make an offer and add a decent Cub to your collection....
