Hey all, the Quiet Line talk has me thinking. I had thought the "late" model Quiet Line also came with the 1" front wheel spindle? My early model 1450 has just those, salvaged from a scrap yard find 1211.

My 1450 has the ground wire from the new and improved starter, to the cast iron bolt, nestled between two thick washers. The ground wire here starts and allows the tractor to operate. I did install another ground wire, from under the firewall mount on the tractor right side, up to an engine tin cap screw. Crazy as it sounds, I can disconnect the main ground from the cast iron grill, and the ground wire from under the firewall mount up to the engine tin cap screw will allow the tractor to start and operate.

Having replaced the engine cradle with nice condition replacements, preformed the engine cradle modification, up graded to the "later" cast iron oil pan, and replaced the old iso mounts with only Genuine Replacement Parts, I can't see why this configuration does not exceed what the Quiet Line originally came with.

Perhaps, the Wide frame models can be a bit easier to work on. I happen to have a nice 86 awaiting on me to fix it up. But, the Ql ain't so bad, compared to this 125 narrow frame I have, HA!

John-

You're right. The 1200 I've been working on has the 1" spindles. And you have a point about working on a QL vs a narrow frame. At least the work is done from above so...

Marty,
OMG!!! That crack is so big I bet I could stick my hand through it. I suggest that you set that poor Cub out by the curb and I'll come by and remove it for free.

Marty - I pulled out my flashlight and my magnifying glass but I've got to tell you even using both of those I can't see the crack in either of the pics you posted

David - still hoping you post some pics of your 126. I can't make it to the show this weekend, and neither can a lot of others on here. We really want to see some pics.

I have a 50C deck on my 1250 that I converted to an A by changing the drive pulley and moving the front hanger. Something I never realized was the A deck uses 7" rear wheels and the C deck uses 6". Anyone know why?

Hydro -

Your mention of possible mismatch tires w/ week spread in shipping dates prompted a little digging around for some info.

Date code and identifier stamps

Carlisle Tru power 23x10.5x12
Model# 523367

Tire #1 stamps are: 2-423070 P42 3016 P423070-1
Tire #2 stamps are: 1-423070 P41 3016 P423070-1

From the searching I've done so far:

3016 = 30th week 2016
P4 = Jackson Tennessee Plant
23070 = (best guess) tire height rim width

According to the Carlisle Tire / Carlstargroup
website the 23" x 10.5's are designated for a 7.0" rim width.

The #1 and the #2 possibly 1st shift and 2nd shift or Line 1 and Line 2,,?????

Tires are less than 1 month old, width & height measures match as far as I can tell with folding stuck rule. So far so good

My 108's coil is leaking a bit of oil into the spark plug wire well. I have one on order but can I use it in the meantime?

Jason-
Its interesting that Dico "D" is still on the lugs from the old molds!

Wayne - I would think you can continue to use the coil until it does finally fail.

Jason - your stick makes it look like those tires are about 21-1/2" tall, as I thought they may be. Better get ahold of Carlisle and ask where the other 1-1/2" of rubber is to make them 23" tall (I'll be really surprised if air inflation after mounting makes up for it).

Charlie - what's up with the CCC Parts Web site? Everything I've looked up recently is all mixed up. Normally the list of items had been in numerical order according to the parts drawing. By this I mean Item 1 would be at the top and going down the list everything would be in order. Everything I've looked up recently is all out of order - something like starting with Item 4 then 33, maybe 16, 17, 26. Many of the items shown in the parts pic with a number are not even on the lists. Is CCC up to something? Fixing something??? Just thought you may have seen this and know what's going on.
