Thanks Roland Bedell. I'll get to check it out when I get to work today.

I acquired a blade, however the subframe (wideframe type) is bent. Does anyone know the spacing of the rear attachment points that go to the crossbrace. 7.5" looks about right. Has anyone ever reinforced those to keep them from bending?

Rob, most of the wide frame blade subframes appear bent.

Kraig,
BTW, nice job on the Original. I've never seen the underside of a Cub so rust free. What paint are you using? (I'm in the process of installing a rebuilt 7 horse in my Original--I've been thinking about hitting it with new paint even tho the original paint is in great shape. The PO garage kept the tractor).

I am very impressed with your work on the O. Kraig.
You should be very proud of yourself. KforK correct?

I'm sittin' at the garage puter' and smellin' of grass, grease, MMO,..... still pickin the spider webs off of my bald head after cutting the 2 acres.. with my 129 and 44A. It's been a good day in W. central Fl. after week of ugly weather from Fay. I hope all my fellow floridian cubbers are doing OK.

Ray, thanks!

I'm using Valspar Cub Cadet Yellow rattle can paint from Fleet Farm for some parts and MTD/Cub Cadet rattle can parts for others, the shade is almost exactly the same for both. The parts I want to hold up better get the MTD/Cub Cadet paint.

Richard, thanks!

It looks better in photos.

It'll be a working tractor so it'll get dinged up some soon. It's K4K, aka "Kub 4 Kraig".

Well i didn`t get as far as i hoped with the 125 as i need new head bolts. when i put the gas tank support in place i seen that it bolts to the top of the 125. so on hold again. Took out the head light panel on the 147 to get a bulb and some hardware. Now where do i get 5 studes and 4 bolts for the Head. ?? later Don T

Kraig, After you get done with the ajustments on that clutch PLEASE remember to add plenty of grease to that throwout thrust bearing. I won't tell you how I know or what gets damaged. Hard on new paint too! OOPS

Hey Guys, I am working on a 7hp, I have installed new carb and elect. stuff, still has a stumble on acceleration.
could a loose valve adj. cause that? or what am I missing?

Ray:
Without sounding smarmy, what have you really done?? It's pretty hard to give you an answer based on your description so far.. Loose Valves will give you more compression, typically not cause a stumble on acceleration..
Did you:
1: Adjust the carb or just bolt it on? Too lean a mixture will cause a stumble.
2: Have you checked for a good hot spark? This will cause a stumble especially if the carb adjustment is off.
3: Timing OK?
4: Sure you've got good clean gas?
5: How's the plug?, Plug Wire? Coil? Points? Condenser?
6: Float level in the carb right? (just because it's new, doesn't mean it's not too low, giving a lean condition..)
7: Engine mounting bolts tight - got a good ground?
8: Get
9: The
10: Kohler
11: Manual
12: And RTFM

Kendell, I agree its peerdy slanty here today. From one of your posts from who knows when, the xx8/xx9 series looks the best

.

Ray, like Kendell posted. A cub engine is basic... suck, boom, bang. I.E ya got to have good fuel coming in, good compression, then get that exhaust out.

Ohh yea, it will only ever run close to perfect.......

ok i got a100 and i cant figure out the year my serial # is 12333 i would think that would make it an original correct?

Matt S., click on the Faq's page(at the top of the page). You will find your answer there, and look around. Lots of info there.

If you have a model 100, it is not what is referred to as an " Original". The 70 and 100 series followed the Original cub cadet.

i know that its not an original but 100s didnt have s/n's that low
