    Can a cast metal front axel be welded to repair it?

    as Charlie said ,not enough info ,and if its cast iron ,yes it can be done ,with a buzz box .using [ni rod] thats for cast iron ,there is other rod as well ,but if you take it to a weld shop .i would say over $100.00 .just look for a used one .

    Donald.the ACR holds the exhaust open till the engine sees 600 rpm ,the tab on the ACR holds the valve from .030 too .043 .and it is adjustable ,i went through this on my cubs ,using a dial .now one more thing,the spring ,on the ACR may be weak ,and you would get a bad reading ,not letting the...

    Mark G ,you may have went too far ,the c/r will stay open from .030 to .043 till you reach 600 rpm.if you roll the engine real slow with the valve cover off ,you know that already .you should see the exhust valve close ,then do your feeler thing ..017to .019.hope this helps

    Jonathan ,first you need too know how much end play you have with out,the shim .once you know that ,you need from .005 to .010 clearance .and i make my rod from bronze ,hope this helps .

    Ryan ,first never use oil or greese in cast iron ,you may be able to rent a tap extractor ,or take it to a machine shop ,the block cost too much to mess with ,good luck .David

    Bill you may want to go to a colbult drill ,in drilling some things ,speed is a bad thing ,so slow and lots of pressure .hope this helps .David
