Kraig & Todd,
That Wideframe marked 147 also appears on page 93 of Updike's yellow book. He calls it a prototype 149.

Michael, yep, BTW, it was posted to this forum years before it appeared in Ken's book. And yes, I have both of Ken's books on Farmall Cubs and Cub Cadets, signed copies even.

That "147 on a wideframe" decal was posted by Jim Chabot back on Wednesday, April 28, 1999 - 09:06 pm.

Here's his complete post:

Heres the decal used on the older snowblowers, it was used on models BB-36 and perhaps on CW-36.<!-/quote-!>

You caught me Harry, but lucky for me I was on my toes. Now heres a real brain teaser, for me at least. Can anyone tell me whats wrong with the photo below. It's from an official IH owners manual and the entire manual is incorrect in the same manner.<!-/quote-!>

Could there be some rare tractors out there, or could this manual be a rare misprint??<!-/quote-!>

Denny, I wonder if that is the same small scale Original that was at PD8?

BTW, my cousin's had 2 Farmall H and an M and they got LOTs of use back in the 1970's. Mostly hauling hay racks and chopper boxes to and from the field. I got plenty of seat time helping out.

I wish you guys wouldn't talk about Farmall H"s, I'm trying hard not to buy one here that is for sale and is in great shape. If I finish rebuilding the latest 1650 and get my garage cleaned out enough for the (H) I may have to buy it.

Sorry Richard, I have VERY fond memories of riding around on a Farmall H with my cousins and then driving them myself. I'd like to have one too!

But what I'd really like to have is a Farmall 656.

I spent many hours riding on the fender of my cousin's 656, I never really got to drive it much. He still uses it daily.

Kraig, I will try to get over to my in-laws over the weekend and get the manual scanned for ya

Kraig-
There are some other strange things about that 147/9...

If you look closely in this picture, you'll see that it has a 149 style hood-latch (#1), but you can see the hydro release hold-down in the lower left corner as well.

One other thing that I have noticed in the manuals that show the 149. They have the incorrect font. The manual has a more styled 9 with an angled tail. The actual decal has more of a block 9. More like the 9 that is in this post.

Art, good eye! And that narrow frame hydro release hold-down bracket is edited out of the photo from the "149" manual.
