Michael, the QA release bail must be held up in order for the blade sub-frame to not slip out. There are springs that are supposed to hold the bail in the up position but they can become weak and/or fall out. Also the release bail could be worn so that the area that is supposed to hold the sub-frame in can no longer do it's thing. As a test for wear, use a bungee or rope to hold the bail in the upper locked position.

Kraig,
That's the part, springs huh, I'll have to check again but I don't recall mine having any tension on it. I have to move it to take the mower deck off then move it again to lock the plow in. I suspect I am missing the springs.

Michael, here's what the springs look like and the orientation at which they are installed. Note that one spring has been hot glued to the outside of the QA mount. You can see the ends of the installed spring.

Cool pictures Tristian. I love my 129. I know there is a graph or something about angles of operation.. someone else will chime in.

Very nice Wayne!! Although I do not own one of the series that's a nice modification. As Art stated I believe there would be a market for your invention.

The 129 and I did mower duty most of the morning and while letting it cool off to re-gas I pulled the back cover off of the 149.. Things look good and not to much "goop".

Then I pulled the steering column and and dismantled it.

Yikes........

New project since I sold my last hayrack on the spot at Red Power this summer....

Kory 3000 gear, 52" x 88" deck with provisions for a scissor hoist (next on the list with 3x12 hyd cylinder and calculated 52 deg dump angle).

.I will have to take it apart today again and find out what is up.

The original one that lasted two years and the new replacement that lasted 12 minutes!I`am thinking a harder key will work. I don`t see why the key is breaking. I heard no funny noises, so i`am lost as to what could be the issue with the loader. More later

Is someone going to fix this site

Don-
Something is "up" with that pump. I would guess that either the pump has an internal issue that has greatly increased it's turning resistance, or the pulley is loosening up and hammering the keyway apart. Does the keyway of the shaft or pulley show any signs of damage? Perhaps some lock-tite on the set-screws would help??

DONALD - Good luck on finding hardened keystock. Keys are soft for a reason, allows them to shear in most applications if they encounter an over-load situation.

How big of a key are you using? Any chance you can make the key longer? Making it bigger, say going from 1/8" to 3/16" or 3/16" to 1/4" would help too but would require machining wider slots & keyways.

STEVE B. - NICE hayrack!

LUCAS - The '63 Cub Cadet Dad traded in on the '65 #70 was repainted red/white like that CC by the IH dealership before it was resold. I always thought they looked good red/white.

Steve B., NICE RACK! Love the color.

Are you going to coat the wood with boiled linseed oil?

I'm having the age old problem of stripped screws for the breather on a carb. Are there any new remedies like a super epoxy (I've tried JB) or maybe a metric screw that's a tad larger than the 10-32s? I have this problem on a few of the cubs. Yesterday I got the JB out and with a toothpick put a minute amount in each hole and swirled it around to fill the existing threads or what's left of them. I let it set for 24 hrs or better then retapped the holes. It worked fair on two of the three holes but I'm wanting a more permanent, professional type job here. Is there someone that does this repair? Do I need to drill and go one size up?

The last thing I want is to see (or hear) a screw making its way to the combustion chamber. Has anyone had this happen?

Any and all will be appreciated.....Wayne

Home of the Plow Special
Art I just started to take the pully off again and found the set screw is missing again. What colour locktite should I use for the set screw.

I will replace the key again and see if I can get it going. I have a edge all around the new driveway that is 4" high and I want to fill it and taper it back some, so I need the loader working(shovels don`t work for me) Thanks guys

I have RED locktite ?

Josh Ott,
Some of the earlier 125's route the harness over the starter gen instead of being routed under the motor,so it would be shorter unless you route it the same way.The 126 would have the plug for the lighter or lift but otherwise it is a basically the same.
