Morning all, we are out in the Cub Shack replacing the governor , and here is my Question for today. Where on the governor is the screw put on it to hold it in place. i see that the screw can come in contact with the flyweights and i know that is not a good thing. hopefully someone on here knows and can help buy a better explanation of the process. Can`t seem to find much info on this anywhere. Thanks Don T

Well now Frank the manual don`t explain (pictures) where and how everything is put together. having said this we have the governor all back in place with 2 pcs of coat hanger and were putting the K back together. COAT HANGERS are great. Use what you have. This will run today. Thanks Frank for that Picture Later Don T

What would you guys say is too cold a temp to paint in? I have no heat units in my shop, so I can't warm up the cub hotel. It's in the 60's here, and wet.

Brad: It depends on the paint - your paint mfr. should tell you minimum and maximums.. You may have problems with "blushing" if the humidity is too high.. I'd say in the 60's is pushing it, although one of the best enamel jobs I ever saw was painted in the 40's (DON'T DO IT !) and was like glass (although it took a day and a half to dry and he had to use a razor blade on the bottom edge to shave off the excess that had "sheeted" (dripped) off it..

John D: From what I've read, IH Cub S/G's were the only ones to use the reverse rotation of the Delco S/G driving the Kohler from the PTO rather than the flywheel end . If this is true, just go find a red or green one....
 
Hey Brad
Im no painting expert,but Im planing to paint one of mine.Ive spent alot of time reading what others Have said here on the fourm ,temps,humidity,different paints, ect.Seems that the sensus is no cooler than the low to mid 70's and as low as possible in humidity.Id imagine with the low temps and high humidity you have it would take a loooong time to dry,and Im guessing its possible it wont cure correctly.

What does the paint label say,does it have temps that are acceptable, maybe humidity levels.

All in all when I paint mine its going to be warm and dry!!

Like I said Im no expert and you might want to wait for other opinions,there are alot more experienced people here!!
 
Has anyone come up with a simple, not breaking all the time muffler set up for a 1450. Seems something on mine is always breaking. Trying to get the elbow out of the engine right now. Any help would be appreciated.

Yup, Click on David Kirk's link at the top of the page (Kirk Engines) and scroll most of the way down his catalog page - you'll see the "Muffler Crutch", made especially for the Quiet Lines....
BTW - I was having a problem getting the text to display on David's website, I finally used IE rather than FF or Chrome and it came up OK
