morning all for my first question of the day....
97489.jpg

Whats the thing on the front there for, it was on there when i got it, and i have since removed it (along with every part on the tractor), my neighabor thought it was what was left of a plow mount, but some of it looks home made??? ever seen anything like it??

... and now for the second question of the day! i am trying to remove my front axle, i got (part) of the roll pin out but cant seem to get the other half out, to remove the axle pin, i can get into the very center (of the axle pin), to a point where it should just slide out, but it wont budge
any help would appreciated

From what can be seen in your picture, it appears to be a homemade mount for some unknown attachment. It may have been assembled from parts for something else, but it is not an original IH assembly.

Use PB blaster or the like to loosen it up.Wait a day or so then try to knock the roll pin out all the way.IF you leave the roll pin in you REALY want to be sure it is centered in the middle of the axel pivot pin.I didnt even look for roll pin in mine when I took it apart, thought the pivot pin was pressed in,I got the pivot pin out ,but I took out the bushing attached to the frame also

Anyway a good soakin of PB blaster for a day or so should loosen it up.Although Im puzzled about how you have just half the pin stuck in there!

Even after I got the roll pin out of my front axle, it took extreme prejudice to get the pivot pin out. I used a 4# engineers hammer and a 3/4" diameter brass rod, and worked up a sweat getting it out.

After noon guys. i have been busy today. i removed the mower deck on my O to clean it and sharpen the blades for spring. I will have to pull the moter so i can fix a base gasket leak. The 149 is coming apart again for a new govener .

Don: She's come a long ways:

I don't think she wants to leave your nice, 64* garage! I wouldn't!
Glad you found that governor screw! Your "O" pulley is here. Enjoy!

Oh, P.S. 2 lifting points on the engine is cheating. Now everyone will think that's the way they were designed!

And...every time I see those front tires, I'd like to have them back!

Hey Terrance, I have a 124, the steering column extends thru the dash about 1 to 11/4 inches. The steering wheel has about a 5 inch dish to it. Hope that helps. Ray

Frank when the 14k was put back together the screw was not put in till she was all back together , so i think the Gov is not in place and we are going to have a look in the AM. Dawn saw the 149 apart today and said( well you have it that far why not paint that one too.)I had to say she is the snow removal tractor work tractor fast. Now what do you want to trade for them front tires lol
$$$ hehe. I bought an ATV winch last week and I`am thinking a lift for my Cubs! all things in time lol Later Don T

hello guys i picked up a 73 the other day and it has no gas tank it has a k241a in it what other model gas tanks would work for ?

A couple of questions about CC electrical system.

First, I can’t tell which connection on the amp gauge is the positive. There looks to be a minus(-) marked on the back ‘behind’ the C on the face but I can’t really read any marking ’behind’ the D. Am I correct that the connection ‘behind’ the D is the positive(+) ??

Second, in my wiring harness the VR bat wire(grey) goes to the solenoid starter side connection and is actually attached to the same ring terminal as the red cable to the starter. The wiring diagram shows the grey wire going to the minus (-) terminal of the amp gauge. Which is correct?

Frustrating thing is that the starter system worked fine until I took the solenoid out to clean the terminals and be sure there was a good ground. Now I got nuthin.

Thanks for any ideas

Ray, thanks for the measurements.

Does anyone have some Windbreaker installation instructions for a 104/124?

Strait H:
Hook it up the way you think it should be. Crank the engine and watch the meter while it's cranking, before it starts. If it shows discharge, you've got it hooked up right. If it shows charge, you need to reverse the connections. You won't hurt it - the internal connection is basically just a heavy wire between the two terminals (with a sensitive voltmeter measuring the voltage drop across that connection)

Strange question- Can I make a s/g function in the opposite direction? I know I can reverse the leads, but would it still charge? I have an engine that would be perfect for a s/g, but has the opposite rotation, and I can't easily mount it backwards.
