I have a TV trivia question.
Does anyone know what sitcom show has an IHC refrigerator in it? Hope this has not been discussed before.

OK, I must be a little behind!! Just happen to see it tonight, I must have been looking at the girls before tonight. LOL

The rise on that thing is 4", So I'm thinkin Dennis is right on the 982 and Super thing.

It would be MUCH easier to swap the rear from the 1250 to the 169 than to swap engines.
Plus you wouldn't be altering the original nature of the tractor.
 
I dislike mechanical PTO's so I try to stay away from them but the other day I got this wild idea to try and start an old Original I've had sitting in my garage for years. When I turned the engine over the PTO was making so much noise I figured the first thing to do was take it off.

PB blasted the screws for a couple of days and then started to work them. Found only three used in this PTO.(YES ONLY THREE).

With the screws removed I tried to remove the PTO, no luck, so I decided to give the chain method people talk about a try. I was surprised how easy it was to attach a chain to the PTO, and then started yanking on it. One yank and I realized that gloves were a requirement. After several yanks and a few bruises I began to think the guy who came up with this idea must be evil.

A few more bruises and a couple new words and I sat down to think about it. It looked to me like I was putting the bearing and the PTO in a bind using the chain like that. Then I used a smaller chain and hooked it on opposite sides of the PTO and then hooked a larger chain in the middle so the force was straight out on the PTO. A couple yanks and the PTO was coming at me at warp speed.

Maybe I've missed it all these years when people talk about using the chain method, but you sure want to hook the chain on two sides of the PTO so you have a straight forward pull.

Still prefer the electrical PTO's.
 
ART - Let's discuss mowing GRASS in 3rd gear with a 7 HP Cub Cadet.....(just kidding Charlie!) Maybe with a Creeper in the Low side!

Charlie - That odd 12th wheel looks exactly like what My 982 has on it....but I know it was replaced....and not sure it was "Original Equip." but I think it was.

Andy W. - Good thread going on in the Coffee Shop @ the RPM Magazine forum about IH's of ALL kinds from movies & TV shows right now.

JAMES N. - re: Elec. lifts for a 147....I'd save those two Nickels.... I rememeber going to a Household auction back around '79 or '80 in the Quad-Cities where they had TWO Cub Cadets... One was a rather new 147 and in a box that sold with the tractor was two replacement elec. lifts. They were problems even when they were new! I'd convert to hyd., just as easy and probably as cheap and MUCH more durable. FWIW, I think Charlie bought BOTH those Cubbies that day.... I know they brought WAY more than I could afford at the time.

RICHARD C. -Something about having 10-15 pound CHUNKS of cast iron flying around My shop on the end of a chain has NEVER appealed to Me. I've always had much better luck using a gear or pulley puller. It's hard on the triangle spring & thrust button in the clutch, and sometimes bends the three levers but they always get replaced anyhow. I actually prefer the mechanical clutches over the elec. because they're "CHEAP" and "EASY" and I can gradually engage them but I haven't got forty+ yrs experience with the elec. clutches like I do with the mechanical versions. The clutches on My 982 (frt & rear) have both been totally reliable. Wish I could figure out something to do with the rear PTO on that thing!
 
Morning all, we are getting snow here, I`am getting ready for lawn clean up and its dropping flakes,I spent 3 hrs on the confuser yesterday looking for a D Cub and unless i want to drive for a week i`am not having much luck. have a good day all. DonT
