We had a mini snow squall this morning with almost 2" of snow on the truck hood. Coming down the interstate from London visibility was only about 1/2 to 3/4 mile. Shooting for 60* tomorrow.

Is this a little better Charlie???? It's got a nice Kohler in it and says IH all over it....

....But I gotta admit, with all of the crap in my yard to mow around, the new addition will be getting used plenty this summer!!!!!

Of course, I'll have to mow with the 782's some too.......

Steve-
I was going to give you crap for buying one of those riders, but then I figured you'd just show up to PD one day with a set of AGs and a sleeve hitch on the back showing all of us up with that thing.

Besides, teasing is mean....

"Hey Hugh, Steve B just swapped one of your "favorite tractors" for one with a plastic "hood" and shopping cart front wheels"...

LOL!

Ken-
I was out of town for the weekend too. I could tell when our plane flew over your house because my daughter looked over and said, "Ew, what stinks?"

"shopping cart front wheels".......man I'm still laughing at that one!!!!!

Just wait until someone hits something with it and it starts to steer like a cart at Wal-Mart, I'll be back on the 782 in no time.....

It is a Cub Cadet though......I should get some credit for at least staying brand loyal.......

Hey Ken,
Just cause the snow around your house is 'yellow and white' dosen't make it IH snow

Man, I gotta get going on the 1650. It's still torn apart for paint and I have to get it together for tilling season. Maybe I'll go pick up some more sand for the ol'e sand blaster and get the rest of the paint off (if it ever quits raining).

I have been lurking on this sight for awhile, learning all I can about my "Cubby". I have a quick question for you guys. What is the color for the attachments for the cubs? mower decks, plows and such. Is it white? or is it the beige color?

Paul L.
Bout time you opened your pie hole man!

Attachments are just plain ole Cub Cadet white, No mauve earth tones for us!

Jared. well i would pop out that piston and bubble hone the cylinder and install new rings and lap the valves. from what i have read here you got a stuck ring. my .02

Alexander D., I should mention that the K301 that I recently had rebuilt also had a newer style head and the PO had butchered the head baffle and heat shield. I cleaned up the cuts that were made to the head baffle with a nibbling tool and a file. I had the break in the heat shield welded up then I cleaned up the poorly done cuts with an angle grinder to make it look a little more presentable. I might alter a spare heat shield that I have (thanks Charlie

) as I don't really like the weld repair on this one and I'm a little concerned about the weld making the nut set at an angle. I could grind the weld down flat I suppose. The modified head baffle doesn't bother me, it is what it is.

you guys think that $30 for a kit off ebay to tuneup my cub is bad price? Saw it and wondered if it would be a good deal.

thanks for looking theo

Theodore, looks like a reasonable price, but before I'd buy it I'd give Scott Madson a call (see the link to Madson's Service above) and see how much he gets for the same items.

Kraig - I could fix that heat shield fer ya but you know what it's worth compared to the shipping x2.

Charlie - email

Kraig,

Isn't there a shield that goes over the front of the head too or is that what gets removed for the ohter head? I went and looked at a 122 that was for sale last summer that had another cover ahead of the spark plug, does this sound right?

Brian AFAIK, for a Cub Cadet spec. Kohler there is just the one baffle (#7) and the heat shield (#63). It is possible that a Kohler for a different application might have an additional baffle or shield.

Some have a baffle around the cylinder, perhaps that is what you are thinking of????

KENtucky, I know you could fix it.

I think I'll modify the spare that I have and save the welded one for a rainy day.

Brian, item #9 in this parts drawing is the baffle that wraps around the cylinder. Is this what you were thinking of???
