NORM - CC never made a hydro tractor w/16HP Briggs. 482 was 11 HP gd, 582 was 16 hp Briggs 3-spd, 582 Special was 16 hp Briggs 4-spd Peerless, then 682/782's you know about.

Sounds like someone dropped a 16 HP B&S in a 782. I've heard of B&S's being put in 782's but normally they're bigger than that, like 23 HP

I have probably a stupid question. In following cubfaq # 94, is it necessary to drain the rear end? Can you not swing the suction tube away but still keep it inside the differential housing?

That's what I thought, too, Dennis. Think I'll go have a look at it, may work a deal.

Thanks

Well we got about 3" of snow last night. I was going to get the 149 with the blade out to clean it up . Well it seems that the paved drive has no snow on it all all. So I came back in the house . I don`t think the wife would like me plowing on the lawn lol. I did get to use the 149 yesterday,I installed a fresh charged battery and it started on the second revolution . I used the 149 and blade to push a pile of limbs together so I can burn them. I have to burn the limbs before April 1st or buy a $12.00 burn permit that can be bought 12 miles away. I wonder what they will come up with next to nickle and dime us over here.

Neighbor watching me use the blade on the pile ask if I had one I would sell.Might have to sell him a tractor. Later Don T

Norm ,if you are going to repower that 782 ,i see someone has a 15 hp diesel for sale in the selling section back a page.I can tell you the 15 hp diesel are great on fuel. they will save you on fuel mowing the lawn in no time. I think I can run it for 17 hrs or more on a tank of fuel. I like my 1512 Diesel even though its not a Cub Cadet.

Charlie, Ken, Steve, and Jeremiah,

Thank you for the help on adapting the garden implements a few days ago. Jeremiah, thanks for calling me out and letting me know how I can better post pics. I appreciate it! I guess I need to figure out which hitch (sleeve or CAT 0)is best. Thanks again for your help. I guess I need to do some more research. I am new to farming/gardening with a tractor. As with most everything, an education is required to understand what is necessary. Thanks for helping me get the ball rolling. The FAQs have been a great help but I am going to learn perhaps more basics of tractor hitches. -Chad

Don,

I'd have to get the 782 first, good idea though. I'd love having a diesel but would have to pick it up in Chicago, a long ways from me.

CHAD - The discussion about Sleeve hitch vs Cat O 3-pt was done a week, maybe ten days ago.

On a "standard" Cub Cadet, NOT a 982, 1872,2072, 1772, 1512, etc I think the sleeve hitch attachments work fine, are easier to find, cost less, and actually have a wider variety of different attachments to chose from. I'd go that route.

The Cat O 3-pt is O-K for those tractors I mentioned above, referred to as "SGT's", Super Garden Tractors since they are longer, wider, taller, have bigger tires, separate frt & rear PTO's, steering brakes, on board hydraulics & aux remotes. But to be honest, most of us who have them make Cat O to sleeve hitch adapters and use our sleeve hitch equipment. I've made a dethatcher and carry-all for my 3-pt, but the thing I use the most is the sleeve hitch adapter with my drawbar adapter bolted on. I never take it off. Plus the Cat O stuff is expensive, hard to find. Some people even rework Cat 1 equipment over to Cat O.
