I made a "New" engine work / test / run stand last winter, and I love it. I started with a used 5 legged roll-a-round office chair. Removed the seat, back, and arms and made a battery tray, small console, gravity tank, and a base plate to bolt onto it where seat was, after drilling this plate for different Kohler Engine mounting patterns. It's easy to raise it up/let it down, to turn it around to work on, etc. It does roll around a little while running, but not too bad. Now I've started gathering extra discarded chairs to make storage stands for extra engines.. Just roll em out of the way when done.
