Hey quick question for you guys, are the Frankenstein bolts different on the wide frames than they are on the narrow frames?

Chuck

Yes, my reply was not to counter Dennis either.

We both posted around the same time and I was busy looking up links so he beat me in.

Kraig - I would love to hear how the teflon works out.

And what exactly is the paint Dennis is talking about?

Chuck F.
Yea they are different, they are older on the NF's!

RICK - I was hoping someone would mention the name.... I think it's "Slip Plate" but it is sold under several different names. I coated all three of My decks about 2-3 yrs ago. It does help quite a bit. I wire-brushed EVERYTHING off the underside... sprayed on two heavy coats on each deck. It's avail. in 16 oz spray cans & quarts. I know Dave K #1 can get it locally because I bought My cans at HIS local Fleet Farm.
KRAIG - My "BUDDY" You met a year or two ago from Minneapolis could get Your deck Teflon coated.... Have to strip all the mechanicals off it though..... His stuff cures at 725-750 Deg. F.... Probably have to repaint the deck too. Plus it's REAL fragile.

Slip Plate I know of. Might give that a try if the bed liner paint doesn't hold up.

What's everyone else using?

Rick, Denny, I never mentioned teflon! I wrote "graphite paint". BTW, I use the Fleet Farm brand. Denny, you are correct, "Slip-Plate" is the brand name version.

Charlie, nice coffee pot.

Here's the version that Fleet Farm sells. It's available in spray can, 1 quart and 1 gallon cans. I've heard that the spray can version doesn't have as much graphite in it compared to the brush on versions so it may not last as long, remember it's considered a wearable coating which requires periodic recoating.

Ah cool! Might take a trip to F&F Saturday then.

I've already go the Dupli-Color on the bed of my little S10. So the extra cans are OK to repair scratches and gouges in the truck. And of course my foot rests on the 1200

Rick, just don't put Slip-Plate on your foot rests!!!!!)

hey guys can you tell me why these are so cheap?

ebay # 4386419817

Not that I need a pair, just I've come to understand that these are pretty expensive from the parts guys right?

Chuck

Oh they'll go up Chuck. I was trying for a set not long ago and they went for $86.

Haha, upchuck

Sorry silly mood day

chuck, i just looked them up, i have 6 instock, and we sell them for $6.40, kinda expensive for a bolt, but whoever buys them on ebay, will pay more because of shipping

jeff

Jeff are you sure thats right? I've seen the frankensteine bolts go for a lot more than that on the sponsor sites. I have a wide fram that someday I would like to put a 3 point on, so I know eventually I'm giong to need a set, help me and others not spend too much.

Thanks,
Chuck

chuck, arent those the bolts for the front mule drive, that thread into the outside of the main frame, and the mule drive slides over them? maybe i looked at the wrong bolts!!!
dunno.gif

I think you're right Jeff, they aren't the bolts I thought they were. I thought they were the bolts for the 3 point.

Chuck

Are you sure you are talking about the same bolts? There are the bolts that mount on the front of the frame for the front mount attachments (AFAIK these are the same on narrow frames as for the wide frames) and then there are the bolts for mounting the rear 3 point hitch on the later wide frame Cubs PN: IH-64872-C1.

Oops, look like I posted a few seconds late........)

CC Specialities has the bolt for the 3 point. The threaded portion is on the shoulder on these rather than on the narrow portion like the ones on ebay.

And to see the bolts on ebay click HERE
