Tom H., I almost posted that photo of Sam. I'll post it in the morning.

Paul B., from the 42" spring trip blade manual for the 70/100, a photo of how to install said blade onto an Original. It does require one to drill holes into the frame however.

In any case with the proper lift bracket on the blade "A" frame and the bracket on the manual lift arm, I believe an external lift rod can be used.

I have a 42 inch mower deck (originally from a 104 or 105) which is newer than the 38 inch cast iron deck that came with the Cub Cadet 100 I just purchased. Will the newer 42 inch deck also fit my 100?

Brandon, here's how the internal lift rod is routed. As Paul mentioned, the lift rod has some bends in it.

James M., you were VERY fortunate to have all the set screws come out AND to have the PTO come off easy. I've never seen one shear all the lugs off. I believe the service manual says that you can run it with up to 3 adjacent lugs missing. Hard to say what happened. Yes use anti-seize on the set screws when you put it back together.

Steve S., I believe the Quick Attach 42" mower deck will fit but you will likely have to use the Quick Attach style subframe. Hopefully someone that has done this will post.

I'm beat, I stopped at the family farm on my way home from work to clear the driveway for my mom. I started on that around 4:30 then I drove home, ate a quick supper then went out to clear my driveway. I finished that up just after 9:00. Have a good night.

I feel guilty......(we complained 'cause it was 65 and cloudy today..)

I had not seen that before and was not aware the 70/100 subframe could be adapted to the "O". However, in Brandon's case, since his blade and subframe is for an "O", he would have to use the subframe and the "A" frame from the later models. The "O" "A" frame is not as wide as the later ones and I don't think it will fit the later subframe. Also the lift bracket on the "O" "A" frame is welded on, not bolted, so it is not easy to add the later lift bracket.

Don T:
I'm not sure now if I understood your question, but I think what you should look for is the pivot to be perpendicular (at a right angle) to the ground when the blade is touching the ground. That way, as you angle the blade, it won't raise one end and dip the other...

Thanks guys,
Im pretty excited to,gently this time, tear into it and clean it up.Im also excited the kids are taking an intrest in something other than the nintendo Wii game.
Ive been pouring over the sponsors above checking for parts. My wishlist is way bigger than my wallet!!Have you all checked out CC warehouse? Boy does He have some nice stuff on there.

Can the dash tower, not sure if thats the correct term, be removed from our cubs without removing the steering column??
I belive I can,and could of saved myself alot of heartache if thats so!!

Ive seen pictures here with the dash removed and the steering column still in,but didnt know if they put the column back on after removal.
Thanks Jason

Cory,
Yes the front can be raised back up, just depends on how you want to do it.
Here one way I raised mine.

Jason,

Yes, but you will need to remove the steering wheel, check the FAQ's at the top of this page for some helpfull hints on how to remove the steering wheel.

Well just got my tire chains in the mail finally. Unfortunately I do not think they fit well. I asked earlier about the chains on tractortirechains.com that said 23x9.5 if they would fit my 23x8.5 well they are on the tire but I dont like it. They overlap so far I have like three of the cross chains overlapping and had to use a couple rubber straps to keep the thing tight and tying off the slack ends with some zip ties. Also, on one end there is a long piece with a curve on the end. Does anyone have like a closeup pic of how this is suppose to attach (and stay attached)... mine seems to just fall off no matter how tight I try to make it. As you can all figure, this is my first experience putting chains on lol.

I'm also having some trouble with the lift handle on my 129. Sometimes when I have the snow blade dropped down I cannot push the button in on the top, or when I pull the lever back the button doesnt pop back out to lock it in the up position... and its a little akward to drive around holding the blade up while trying to steer and run the hydro with only two hands. What normally causes this? Does it just need some WD40?

Tristan, Make sure your lift handle is not bent from the pressure of lifting your blade, I had one on my blower tractor do the same thing only it was from the weight of my plow on the back, It would not let the button work properly, Doesn't take much bend to make things hang up, also a little wd-45 never hurts!

Thanks Kraig on the info about the bearing collars for the QA snowthrowers. Guess I should have known since they are very similar to the bearing collars on the front PTO.

Sorry Everett, didn't mean to steer you wrong. Most times my patience is short and I reach for the "persuader" rather quickly.

Next auger removal should go much easier.

Kraig, that blade mount looks just right on my CCO? Has worked for many years. I didn't know it was wrong for a long long time. Just thought it was the "new and improved " blade. Never had trouble with anything hitting where it shouldnt. I am still looking for the heated seat option like my pickup has!

Didn't Sam Dishman go over to the dark side when he left us? Very nice 70 but I think I remember him going for a larger green machine.I bet you have the pic buried somewhere!

I'm sure glad I cleared the snow last night when it was still above zero, it was -19.4° this morning, burrrrr.

Jerry, now that you mention it, I believe you are correct. I think he kept the 70 though. I'll have to see if I can find that picture of the other brand, 'til then, here's Sam

Paul, yep, welded on lift bracket for the sleigh subframe version. Thanks for your input on this, I always forget about that sleigh subframe....

I have the non-spring trip blade for my Original, I'll have to see if I can find where I squirreled my lift rod away at. If I can find it I'll have to take some photos of it for Brandan.
