Just in case you want to do some Cub huntin up here in Northern Minnesota, you do have to contend with a little bit of an obstacle once and a while!

I was trying to pull the auger out of my QA42 so I could sand and clean up the rust behind it and could not figure out how to remove it.

I removed the three nuts on each side of the thrower and that wasn't enough so I pulled the set screws out of the collars on the shaft that are right next to the bearings. The collars won't move. I pulled the bolts out of the auger thinking it would slide to one side and give me clearance. Nothing! What am I missing?. I really think those collars next to the bearings should slide towards the auger but I was afraid to force them. Anyone know how to do this?

mine is a cw 36 does that make sence i'm picking it up saterday morning i have a paved driveway an a stone parking spot for friends an stuff but i have the plow on the o that works real well

edale,

I had a similar problem the first time I had my auger out of the housing. Your right the collar should slide on the auger shaft, allowing the shaft to slide enough to either side to let it slip past the bearing mount on the housing. Mine was really rusted fast. Lots of PB Blaster, some heat on the collar, and a BFH on the auger shaft from the outside finally broke it loose. Be careful about beating on the end of the auger shaft. If you flatten out the end, you'll need to grind it rounnd again for it to fit in the collar and bearing mounts. BTDT.

Found a snowthrower for $50 on craigslist. I'm not sure what model or what cub it goes with. All the ad said was that it goes on an older cub. I'm going to call on it today, cause I aint got nothing else to do!!

Art, the round spot is the hour meter. Shocking enough it still works. Should have had Keith get a closeup of it. About 20 min with some rubbing compound removed the haze from the dial so I could read it. Tractor seems to charge like it should but the amp gauge stays pegged on full charge. Will replace when I find an IH unit.
It did not come with a seat. Those old boat seat/life savers are rather nice on the old pan seats. I was using those before I ouned a padded seat on the 149. Hope to get a coat of red on it next year.If it gets parted those hubcaps are the first to go!I didn't think it was bad for $200

Nice 782.

Scott , stay strong and just relax!!I had a surgery, about 8 years ago now and I like you was board out of my gourd.Similar, wasnt suposed to lift.Well the toilet got pluged with one of the kids toys and I decided to take the whole stinking thing out front and get the toy out!!Put me back in bed for an extra couple days!!

Well I brought the 70 home last night and Im happy!!Sure is a neat little tractor. The people were really nice.Is a 70 a "first try" with the 7 horse,It looks identicle to the 100,with the 10 horse.I have only seen pictures.I will post some pics when I get home from work.

Charlie....Looks to be a bit rough getting to stuff up there!!

Everette, Bruce, those bearing collars need to be rotated before they will slide. There is an eccentric lobe on the bearing and the inside of that collar. Step one, loosen the set screws, step two, locate the hole that is drilled into the collar and use a punch to rotate it (DON'T use one of the set screw holes). Note that it will only rotate one direction. If the collar was installed properly it should rotate in the same direction that the auger rotates. Step three, slide the collar.

Charlie, those don't look like Cubs under all that snow.... looks like RERs of another brand.

Jerry, nice 782!

Jason,
The Original, or "first try", Cub Cadet was a K161 7hp. The replacement motors were usually a K181 8hp though.

I see in the FAQ section that my 128 should be painted 483 yellow and corresponding paint mfg numbers are given. No paint mfg numbers are given for 483B. On another site, they say my tractor should be painted 483B. What gives here and what is the difference between 483 and 483B ? Thanks.

Doug, they are the same shade of yellow. 483B just has rust inhibitor.

Brian B. When I got my dad's 126 a few years ago the charging system didn't work. Found the wiring harness inside the frame rail had totally failed,it came out in two pieces. It also ruined the regulator. I changed the harness with the engine in place, later I did my 147, on it you have to take the engine out. Its a whole lot easier to do with the engine out! I heard of a Cub that actually caught fire from this problem, so be careful running yours before you find the problem. Normally the Cub charging system will easily exceed 13 volts.

morning all, well i replaced the roll pin on the hydraulic lift handel with a cotter pin. nail i had used must have fell out. i hope this will last till spring lol.I wanted to get the 54" blade to sit better. i just noticed that the 1862 attachment arms are longer and this will have to be fixed later. Dean Sauve - Why do You want to know who all lives inside the Cheddard Curtain?
Ohhhh BTW, Send more $$$$$$$ down to Madison....they can't afford to turn up the heat....supposed to be -15 to -18 by Friday.

Steve M., yes a CW36 will fit your 126 but it isn't the best choice. The CW36 is a "bolt on" attachment and will be more tedious to attach and detach. It was made to fit the 70/100 and then the 1x2/3 series.
