When someone tells me they restored a Cub Cadet to factory new, the first thing I ask is how many paint runs does it have and where are they?
They then get a blank look on their face and ask what I'm talking about, and proudly state it doesn't have any runs in the paint, at which point I smile and tell them it isn't "restored to factory new".

The most common place I have seen the original factory runs is on the inside of the hood and hood cross brace.

As winter at least loosens its grip, my thoughts are turning to spring projects. Once I complete a motorcycle related project, the next garage project is to rig a Brinley plow I purchased last fall for use on my 102. It is not your standard sleeve hitch plow, according to the PO, it was once used on a Craftsman tractor.

Here is what I have to work with:

I can tell that the Coulter goes where I can see remants of a weld, my challenge is to come up with a mechanism to lift the plow either with the regular lift arm, or with a separate mechanism. Pictures would be welcome.

Jeremiah, sorry for not answering sooner. I love my 48" deck, yet hate it for scalping. With no gauge wheels on these, when turning, the deck will scalp to the outside. The deck floats side to side vertically.(I hope you understand). They need the wheels to keep from scalping. Anywho, enjoy what you have, and keep in mind to turn slowly with these decks.

That kinda looks like an Ohio Steel plow.
That's an easy fix!

CHARLIE - Bruce's plow may be an early Ohio Steel plow, but it's different than my Ohio Steel plow in many ways.

KRAIG - Different parts had different cosmetic requirements. The tops of the hood had to be nice, and fenders, and the outsides and tops of the frame & tunnel covers. But anything else was "Just make it Yellow...or white, or red.

I think IH had much more manufactured content in the Cub Cadet than any other manufacturer. Which is good, but it also means IH painted most things.... which can be sorta bad in a way.

That looks like a David Bradley plow to me...

Ok guys, I apologize if some of you consider this "off topic". I have been told by many that the early MTD/CCC models up to the first SGT's were based off of the x82 series IH's. If this is true, how compatable are the decks? can an IH deck mount to the CCC's and vise versa?

Dennis,

My Son and I spent 5 to 6 years racing battery powered off road trucks. At first I was the pit crew and my Son was the driver. 3rd year into racing Son desided he could set up his own truck. The track we help build was 15 to 20 miles away. Besides the Viking this drag was used to help build a track.

One of my next projects is to restore a 70 with a 38-inch timed belt deck and rear PTO. My dad bought one of the early 70's with this mower. IH was probably getting rid of "Original" decks and dad probably saved a couple bucks. It did have a rear PTO, but not a front one. First question: Was there a special mounting bracket/mule drive for this tractor/mower combination and if so, has anyone ever seen one? And second: If the tractor was ordered without a front PTO, would there still have been mounting holes in the right side of steering pedestal for attaching the engage/disengage lever?
