Gregory, Welcome!

If you click on the various colored boxes above you'll find darn near everything you could ever need for your new Cub. Here's a wiring diagram.

Gregory...International Harvester made a 3-point setup for pretty much all cubs (that i know of)... and for sure an original, you could try looking at our sponsors sites, the classifides on the main page, or ebay... you can usually find one somewhere i think the going price is about $60-$90

Just to make sure, I went out and started the 106 this evening, and , well, it started just fine! I guess I'm a little paranoid after the problems I have been having. Now I can do the hydro lift install I've been putting off. I had a guy tell me that the clevis will hook right up to the lift arm bracket for the plow without having to change the manual rockshaft, which I'm going to do when I get my funds anyway. I did'nt think that sounded right, but he swore it would. Anyone have thoughts on this?

Scott, I was bidding against you on that hyd. setup. When I figured out it was a guy from this forum I quit so it (price) wouldn't be driven up to much more. I bought one the following week and it came with the modified rockshaft! Looking at the directions that Kraig had posted you re-use the rockshaft after modifying it in a couple areas. It looks like you remove the handle and "ratchet" for lack of a better word right now, also a connector bolts to the rockshaft "handle to connect the piston to the rockshaft. If you didn't save the directions, I did. So if you can't find'em here. E-mail me and I'll send'em to you.

I finished my blower rebuild. I should paint it but painting is not as fun. Here is the drive sprocket. The sprocket and the bearing housing is worn bad. These parts should be greased frequently.
104275.jpg

The bearings spun on the auger shaft wearing the shaft down about 1/16".
104276.jpg

It looked like someone threw up in the gearbox.
104277.jpg

Here is the rebuilt drive. I shimmed the sides with brass washers to minimize the side to side slop.
104278.jpg

Here is the new chain ans bearings.
104279.jpg

The alignment bushing were removed from the gearbox slides. I had to create some new slides otherwise the box would be loose.
104280.jpg

I sprayed the inside with rust converting primer. I waited a day then coated the inside with graphite paint to make it nice and slippery.

Hi all

I have a 149 that I just got running. I think the gov is too sensitive as it seems to rev too quickly, yet when under load, does not always maintain engine speed, that's my first trouble. I read the FAQ and set the govenor as described in the manual.

My second issue stems from the hydro unit. This unit has had a problem with neutral location. I readjusted as I found the instructions in the FAQ. It seems to find neutral OK now, wheels were not moving when rasied, but when I use the hydraulic lift and it reaches the end of the travel (lift) the tractor moves or lurches until you release the hydr control lever. When you stop the engine, it seems to try to move forward again as well, and there is a grinding noise coming from the the hyrdo (sounds like a rachet) until the engine stops. It sounds like ther is a whine type noise coming from the hydro when it is running. Is there a seperate problem, I can readjust the neutral, but I think I have it right, Any thoughts or ideas? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
Jeff

The snow used to get like that at my dads house the wind would whip it around the house and pile it up on the porch. It would get 6+ feet deep.I belive He would just let it sit and invite my brother and I up so we could shovel it!!Sure looks like that (I will probably get this wrong?)Thrower? does a great job.

Steve
what are you all plowing under with that big red International.Just wondering, one of the only things i rember when we went to visit the family in Wisconsin when I was a kid was running through corn fields that never seemed to end.Somewhere outside madison, dont rember!

Terry
what did you use in the gear box after rebuild?I have a tiller box Im going to use the Grease/gear oil in,like in the FAQS.Good job getting that thing rebuilt.

Jeff
I cant help you on the Hydro but from what your explaning it sonds pretty bad."I" would think its toast but there a whole bunch of way more experienced gentelmen on here that will probably have good sugestions!

Jeff R.-

A few things here:

1. Hydrostatic transmissions whine pretty much no matter what.
2. That lurch every time you move the hydraulic lift is some sort of internal leak resulting from many hours of use (I think it's discussed in the FAQ somewhere). It means your transmission is a bit worn, but you'll just have to live with it. My 782D does it, and so did about half of the hydraulic lift-equipped tractors I've owned.
3. I think that grinding noise you are hearing is because neutral isn't quite right yet, which is why it creeps forwards when you shut it off. Both the 1450 and my 1650 that I no longer own did that as well. Something else you might look at is the condition of your driveshaft couplers, particularly the front one.

Basically, I wouldn't worry a whole lot about it. The trans may slip under extremely heavy load, i.e. plowing, but you won't notice this mowing your lawn. You also didn't mention whether you changed the hytran and filter, which you should do if you haven't. A partially clogged filter can cause some real strange noises. BTDT.

hey i might be gettin an "O" and i was wondering if anyone has ever had problems with the drive belt slipping... I myself kind of doubt it, just wondering

Matt,

Thanks for the help. I have not changed the filter or fluid yet, I will do that this weekend, I do intend to do some plowing and snowblowing this winter, so I will adjust some more.

Thanks again.
Jeff

Jason,

Those are standing corn stalks, all that's left of the plant after the combine grabs the stalk and rips it down through the snapping rolls. They are called "standing" because they have not been disked to cut them up and stir them around.

BTW, That is Big Steve and Steven III in the tractor...looks like a 2 headed opperator with Steven III sitting behind the seat on the "shelf".... I spent LOTS of time on that very "shelf" myself with my Grandfather at the wheel when I was the same age as my son...lots of good memories!!!

And to keep this on-topic, the 782 and blade got another work out...this is shaping up to be one heck of a first snow, strong winds are blowing roads shut again this evening. It seems like big piles of heavy wet snow are the "norm" anymore around here at Thanksgiving....

Kraig,

I do not have those manuals but I will check with my father-in-law. He may have.

Mike Frade, You were not bidding against me at all. I had worked out a swap with another member back in late October and it has been sitting in my cub's den since then. I try to not do any bidding just to keep my wife from strangling me!! I did however download the entire manual and do have the places to "cut and paste". I'm getting a lift rockshaft from another member because I figured someone might need a manual lift rockshaft and I might be able to sell or swap for something in the future. I have the phone number of that seller of the hydro auction, and told me to give him a call if that didnt work and he would sell me the rockshaft before he put it up for auction, but I have commited to another member which is more than likely a better choice than an auction anyday!

I'm very new to the world of Cub Cadets, but not to big IH's. I recently picked up two Originals #8792 and #17469. I also got a parts Original #9540. A couple questions tonight. (and probably many more in the future!) Both tractors are complete and straight and very little rust. I would like to restore one as a basic (no options) and the other fully loaded. It came with lights, fenders, weights and Danco UD). What other options (besides the three point) am I missing? Also, the hood on the #8792 has a cutout curve to accomodate the steering wheel when lifting the hood. Were they made this way? It is a perfect, symetrical arc about a half inch at deepest. My other two hoods don't have it. Thanks.

OK anyone ever hear of a "cultamulcher"? came across this in local CL ad .see pic. also saw ad for 2 IH snowthrowers, one shaft driven, one pto driven-$20 each. I called,no answer I'm sure they are gone already.
Also would the colorful box people at top of page have the correct U-bolts to fit the lift bracket to attach my plow to lift arm? the parts store ones arent right size, dont fit thru 2 holes.

hello guys i was out in the shop working on my 73 and decided to hook up the jumper box and turned the key to see what i was dealing with electrical wise and sure enough notin happened what do you think it could be? the connections for the solenoid are covered in thick dust could that be the problem ? if so how should i go abought cleaning them? all the wires seem to be all there and intact i hope its not the starter i can move the pully free by hand so hopefully thats a + haha also if any one here has any info on a model 73 can you post it please

Welcome Paul
3 O's, wow lucky man!! Why not fix up #9540? A worker a showboat and a sunday driver!

Andrew do you have a electrical meter you can check to see if the voltage is getting past the solenoid to the starter generator?

A couple of guys on here rebuilt their SG's recently.Im planing to do the same as mine is slow/weak.

I cleaned all the connections with a wire wheel in my drill, and the terminals and under the ground on the frame.I dont think the thick dust is the problem, its a tractor!, maybe corrosion. Check the wire harness real good, kinda vauge huh,.... for cracks ect.the sponsors have wire harnes' and everything else you need at reasonable prices.
Good luck

I picked up a Haben H42 Snowthrower this evening. It seems to be in working order. I hope to get it working on the 1250.

Does anyone have an Operator's and/or Service Manual?
1a_scratchhead.gif

I checked the FAQ's and searched the archives, I found a QA Operator's Manual that gives some help but I would like to correct instructions.

Thanks

Ken
While I'm sure somebody has a manual for that snowthrower, you probably won't find any literature for hooking it up to your 1250 as the Habans were mostly associated with the later 82-series tractors.

This means that at the least you'll probably have to swap out the 5/8" belt-sheave for a 1/2" one, and you may need to make a new lift rod as well.
