Paul T: There is not supposed to be a "notch" cut out for the steering wheel. Some PO ran it in to something and knocked the front cast grille frame back (bending the frame slightly) and caused the hood to contact the steering wheel. The quick easy solution to this problem is to put washers under the rearmost grille frame bolt mounting holes, thus tilting the frame and hood forward and no more contact with the steering wheel. Of course, you can always disassemble and correct the frame problem if you are looking for a project. Get a bodyshop to repair the hood and get rid that "notch" if you want to retain originality.

It was on a mid eighties CC Tractor and the Model number on the Thrower tag is not legible. But it looks like the Haben H42 that is shown as an attachment for the 1250 on the CC Parts LookUp pages.

It spins freely and would seem to be in working order. It does have a "home made" replacement rod for rotating the discharge chute.

But again, any Manuals would be helpful.

Also, I have an Operators Manual for the 1250 in very good condition, if any one would want a copy for the archives.
 
The Parts LookUp pages for the 1250 show it as "Haben", but I thought maybe the real manufacturer was "Haban".

I'm just wondering how many of you print off the PDF manuals?

While I like the idea of not killing a few trees, I have a hard time reading them off the computer.

Those of you that do print them, do you print them at home or take them to an office supply place and have them print them off?

Good morning.The wife is on a weeks vacation so Cub time is short. i did have the local parts truck drop of a few things (jet torque wrench, and sander heads) I need to make up a puller to get the flywheel off and get the crank out and cam to see what is wrong. I will be replaceing the govener again. now to start the 147 and put up some xmas lights on this great day. later Don T

I didn't really think the notch should be there, but with the early serial number I thought I should check with the experts before doing any hood work. The notch was so precisely done..... Appreciate the info on tilting grill forward. I bet the guy who long ago did the hood surgery had had access to this forum! Was an ammeter an option on originals?

I would suggest you consider wingnuts and velcro for that 14 horse (as often as it comes apart..)

I hadn't checked on the warm air coming through the grill on the 129 until this morning - I was surprised at the amount of heat - should be some way to channel that towards the operator. I'll try a piece of cardboard on the grill to see if not warming the chute makes any difference. With the weather a little colder, I didn't have the problem this morning (and yes, I do have Slip Plate on the inside of the chute)..
 
Hi again Paul: Yes and no. Not an ammeter, but a volt/charge meter was available at some point as a dealer add on. It mounted externally on the top left side of the pedestal in photo's I've seen.

Ken i had a license mechanic put the engine together for me. i was pi^^ed with the result to say the least. the 14k did sound great and i know that when it goes together this time i`ll be a happy cubber. thanks for you input. lol

Phil T. I have an old laser printer I use for smaller printouts. But if you can dump the file to a (USB)flash drive, I dont think it would be too expensive at a Staples etc. Just depends on what type of binding, if any, you want.

Originals with electric start did not have an ammeter. That was strictly a parts add-on kit that mounted to the steering pedestal. Same for the later 70/100's as well.

Phillip Thorne... unless you have access to a lazer printer i would not print PDF files at home... my dad owns a copy shop, so i have every manual i could find printed and bound, some in color! but if you are like most people you dont have such access... I would take them to kinkos or some place like that.

I finally got a pedestal for my 122 off ebay. It has a lot of surface rust, but it's solid. Not bad for $15 + shipping.

Thanks Henri, Rick, and Frank for your help and offers to part out pedestals for me.

That Case New Holland BP Gear Grease is great stuff for gearboxes on the tillers and snowthrowers. I had a bit of a challenge finding it though as my local Case IH dealer doesn't stock it and would only order it if I bought a case of it. He looked it up on the dealer computer inventory and found a dealer in Nebraska that had some of it in stock so I got two containers from them. Really works slick in the gearboxes for smooth and quiet, trouble free operation.
