Ah, talk about open station IH tractors......

I just got in from planting 40 acres of corn with an IH 656 (open station) and an 800 Early Riser 6 row narrow.........IN A 45 MPH HEAD/TAIL WIND...AT NIGHT!!!!

WOW, 45 mph blowing dirt hitting you going one direction, and a cloud of dust blowing over you in the other!!!!! I had on full wrap safety glasses, but they didn't stop the dust!!! (they did make it possible to SEE the mark though...without your eyes watering). The bottle of water I had on the tractor got used as an eye wash station more than a refreshing drink!!!!!

2/3 done planting corn, but the injector pump on the 1486 went south tonight, so unless we want to no-till the rest in we'll have to wait to finish.

If I had $17,000 and was going to by a Deere, it would be a 2210 rather than an X595. Even though that special edition has the nice lumbar seat and slotted wheels, the 2210 has more options standard for about the same money. I have less than half that invested in the 15 cubs with attachments that I have bought over the past 6 years.

I don't think My Dad & I combined have spent $17,000 on ALL the Cub Cadets, Cub LoBoys, attachments, and repairs TOTAL since Dad bought the First Cub Cadet back in 1961.
Could be worse..... That knucklehead could be running a crapsman....

If anyone took photos at the WFM Spring Tillage day and would like them included on the Photo CD please get them to me ASAP. If you only have a few go ahead and email them to me. If you have a bunch or they are of very large file size please send them on a CD. Email me for my mailing address. As always if you submit photos you get a free copy of the CD. If you took some at PD7 I'd like to include those on the CD too. Thanks!

I hope to have the WFM Spring Break video available soon, it's about 1hour & 40 minutes long. I just need to find the time to process it. Looks like I'll have a PD7 video too thanks to Brad Datisman. It's about an hour long. I'll post ordering information as soon as I get the videos captured to the PC for the DVD versions and get my master tapes for the VHS done.

Dave K2, interesting project tractor you have going there, that will be a monster.

Guys, I am new to a the hydrostatic transmission thingy. Was wondering what type of hydrostat oil filter I could use on the transmission of a IH 782. I have the bought manual and they say nothing about changing this oil. Only to "ADD AS NEEDED"! Can this be good?? Should I just change the filter and add up to the bottom of fill plug? What would be the proper procedure for draining this fluid and adding new fluid? What is the best brand to use in these hydrostatic transmissions? Thanks for your thoughts!!

Terry

Terry -- get the right stuff either at a Cub Cadet dealer or a Case / IH dealer. Hytran oil (or what ever new name may be) and the correct filter. Best to take off the rear plate on the rearend but it'll be a flood of fluid. Wipe out the gunk with a rag. ( hurry up post - got to get to casting!)

Travis -- you want to make decals of my animated IH guy ? I could send you the frame.

Thanks for the info! Feel like an idiot now since I did not do enough investigating before I posted. Well anyway this is a great site for the for the beginner.

Hmmph - now what would I have done differently?

Forget this carp ! It's to !HOT! to be standing over a 3000º fire melting iron ! I did it but now the rest will have to wait until I see the evening star.

Art -- I'd hate to think what Bryan would have done / said to the poor guy !

Ken is that casting as in fishing or as in metal work? (Under edit)Ken, I'm still confused is it "carp" or did you mean "crap"?. :eek:p

(answering for Art) Bryan, you wouldn't have posted the link, you'd have made Terry go looking.)

Kraig -- if I had 6 gallon of gas I'd be fishing no matter how hot it is , but we already have a second mortage on the house

IF they really wanted to do something about the gas prices ... then why doesn't the state of Kentucky drop the damn 33.3¢ per gallon tax (yea I know other states are alot higher but I don't live there

Ken-
Why don't you get out to your shop and make me one of those Spirol Pin Removal Tools© and then I'll give you some money for boat-gas!
