Boy, everybody has been doing some talking since yesterday.
KentuckyKen,
No, the exhaust stack is not 4 feet high, only 30 inches(2.5ft.). It just looks that way in the pics. I made it that tall so I wouldn't get carbon monoxide poisoning!

Kraig, Matt and all that had input I thank you. I didn't know that about the transmission being stopped. This is why this forum is so helpful; they don't mention things like tricks of the trade in the manual.

Still learning......Wayne

Well as usual i`am to slow for the first post.

But here is a shot of my 149 and trailer soon to have power dump option.

I would say you must be home now for Florida? So have you got the blower off the 129 and had some seat time on her? I had a great day working on my tractors and tomorrow I will spend some time on the 129 loader with a new fan. Life is great !

Marty - I hear ya on exhaust fumes. My new 50 Merc outboard would choke ya to death trolling with a tail wind !

Donald - Have you decided on a method of dumping yet ?

Free donuts ... where

Well I gave the issue some thought and decided to stand a cylinder on its end from the tongue to a bracket on the box of the trailer. I will have to make the tail gate swing from hinges and come up with a latch. but I think I got it all sorted out. I have to replace the fenders and a few other things before I will do the mod. Should be nice to be able to load the trailer with the 129 and dump without having to lift it to dump like I do now. I will post a few pictures when I getrdone. Don

I hope you know with a cylinder standing upright it'll angle backward as it raises and stands a good chance of hitting the bottom front edge of the bed as it goes up.

If anybody wants to hear the Hummingbirds whistle send me an email DO NOT post here. I have a 919k wmv file off my camera.

KEN - That's why real dump trucks put the cylinder in a "doghouse!

KRAIG - Saw your post to Matt & Wayne on the braking issue. Yes, unless your tractor has disc brakes on each rear wheel you really only have one wheel brakes. Used to be real bad on the '61 to '63 Cub Cadets, the 70/100 & later tractors not so bad.

Don't know if I was the one who posted about sliding down the hill you were thinking of but Yes, BT-DT. Once on a FARMALL M and LOTS of times on a CC.

Dennis is right they build a dog house in the bed of the dump truck to keep the cylinder angled in the proper direction. I drove dump trucks for 13 years and still do on occassion.

Donald,
You missed a golden opportunity to get one on Kentucky for the question he asked you!

Is there supposed to be any sideplay where the piston rod connects to the crankshaft on a k301? If so, how much?

Marty - Since Donald said a while back that he took off his long johns ... I just wondered what he was doing now without the "trap door"

Yea there's may be a 32nd inch or so of side play.

Question for the engine machine shop experts. Got two busted screw ends near the exhaust port on a K301. Has anyone had good luck with the screw extractors, or is the usual result to drill and retap? These screws were in there good, and the part left did not turn at all when the upper shank twisted off.

Hey everyone just looking for some things to look for on my 1450 hydro. My grandfather left it to me when he passed away and i am just starting to get it going again. It hasn't been ran in a few years and i have no idea when anything has been do to it either. This tractor has a special meaning to me as i couldn't of gotten any thing nicer from my grandfather after he passed away. I have the tractor mower deck blower tiller and cab enclosure. If anyone kows of problem areas please fill me in as I would really like to get this back running so I can enjoy it as much as i enjoyed riding on it with grandpa. Thanks Nic

Craig - Exhaust bolts are notorious for being stubborn and welding themselves in. All that heating and cooling really locks them in there with the added rust.

Now if you have enough shank sticking out that is long enough to slide a nut over and come close to the top of the nut and if you have a MIG sometimes you can get them out.

Weld the nut / shank together down through the bore of the nut and hopefully (if you hold your mouth right) it'll unscrew with the help of the weld heat. That works about 30% of the time, the other 70% you have to drill/tap.

That's my 46 years of experience turning wrenches.

Thanks Kentucky,
Yes, I remember Donald saying that.

Craig,
Kentucky knows what he is talking about. If you have to drill and tap, make sure you don't break the tap off in the hole, it's a pain to get that dude(tap)out! BTDT & got a tshirt.

Nicholas H that is a fine tractor your grandfather gave you its a complete setup.
I would start by changing the hytran and inspecting the trunion. Please read thru the faqs at the top (there are two pages).
these will give you a great insight to possible problems as they are all covered in the faqs.
Dont be afraid to ask a question just bear in mind that if its not answered right away keep checking back.

I talked my friend who is a police officer
into going up to the house with the 102
friday(not the kind of house I would walk up to)
to ask about it.

If I run 2 grounds of my 122 will it help it start easyer.

I would like to thank frank, kraig, and scott for all the help.

Turns out it was the pressure relief valve.

Reverse side was very well locked up, almost looking at a new one, but thank god for elbow grease, and pb blaster.

However have encountered a new issue. The release for the mower deck, on the front side of engine is locked into place.

Does anyone have any ideas on what to do to disengage the pulley from the gear?

Any ideas or diagrams will help a ton

Thanks again
Luke
