I have a bunch of projects on my slate right now and wanted the blower ready so when I do some blasting on my O it will be all done. Then in one weeks time a 12'x19' shed roof on the side of my shop for Cub storage. So a little a day works for me.

Don: Maybe those outside mice heard you had a Mouse Pad on the other end of that wire. (Or maybe they wanted to check out your computer Mouse). Glad you found a non Cub-related problem!
Got this in the mail today. $29.01 - as cheap as I've been able to find it brand new.

Chris R,

Start with new set of brushes and springs for your Starter/Generator. The sponsors at the top of the page can get you a set. Make sure you get the correct Delco/Remy brushes if you look locally as regular generator brushes won't work. You can look up the number with the parts look link at the top of the page. Check the bearing(s) and/or end cap bushing, depending upon which style S/G you have, while you have it apart. Clean the armature ring with some fine grit sand paper (emery cloth is not recommended) followed with a good amount of tuner cleaner and a clean rag. Put it back together and reinstall. Make sure you install the wires correctly. Reconnect the battery and repolarize the voltage regulator. Start it up and see if that stops the jumping of the ammeter. If that doesn't fix it, you may need to clean the voltage regulator contacts and make adjustments.

I have a cub 109. I can not get any spark sanded points and check with new spark plug. still nothing. any way to test the points or coil? Thanks

Brian, make sure you have 12 volts to the coil. Check the wire between the coil and points make sure it isn't frayed and grounding out somewheew. With the switch on and the engine turned so the points are closed, useing a screw driver to manually open the points should cause a spark at the points. If it doesnt I'd suspect the coil.

Does anyone out there have an IH windbreaker mounted on a narrow frame tractor? I'm trying to install one on a 107 and Im having a hard time getting it to fit behind the hood. Just wondering if anyone has pics of theirs so I could get some ideas. Thanks!

Brian - Condensor is where I'd begin. You wont get a spark if it's bad. I've had to replace several on a K241 welder I use to have.

To check it first remove it. Then take a couple of test leads with clips and charge the condensor with the battery. The wire from the condensor goes to the POSITIVE on the battery and case goes to negative. Do NOT touch the wire and case at the same time with your fingers.
Next let it sit for 10 minutes then put a volt meter on it just like you did the battery. An analog meter will be the best because there will just be a quick flash of voltage that you'll only see with a needle swing.
If you see the needle swing up then it's good , if not time for a new one. Do that over again a couple of times till you get the hang of it and make sure you see the volt meter at the instant that you hook it up.

I tested the condensor it seemed fine, the main wire lead from coil to spark plug where it plugs into coil seemed real full of dust and dirt. I cleaned it out real good and made sure wire was making good contact, then i broke the coil stud off. where do i buy a coil/lol. not sure now if it wasnt just a dirty connection.

You can use a car coil from parts store or buy from the sponsors above.
Make SURE you get an internal resistor coil.

Eric's pivot pin collar.
I am making him 2 collars and sending them to him.
He's low on $$ and I know what that's like so I'm passing along a little help.
End of story ...

Thanks Ken, now if Dale Earnhardt Jr. would just win a race my day would have been a good one, but Jr came home in 8th. So maybe next week he'll win, Sorry a little of topic.

Well, I got the 126 back down to the river shack after about 4 years of absence.
It’s been a real saga that I might write up sometime for this forum. I blew the engine by not recognizing that it was over-speeding due to a busted governor tab.

Had to wait until we finished building our house to have a shop to rebuild it (my first engine rebuild). Decided to go ahead and restore it to 20 feet quality. Learned a lot from you folks – enamel hardener, pin punch, gas tank cleaning, pto removal and repair, to name a few things. Thanks for all of your help.
