Thats my thought cuz i chekced all of the connections when it was running and they were fine and I can shut the tractor off with the switch, just not start it

I'm from up your way in Marcellus... see Kraig's post below, as well as read the FAQ's above.. see the manuals at www.ccmanuals,info/pdf/ as well as a freshload of Hy-Tran and a fresh Cub Cadet brand filter. Your Trunion may be worn and/or the springs are so out of postition, that the lever is not being moved... HTH
 
Josh, you could jumper a wire across the neutral safety switch as a test. If it starts with the key when the jumper wire is across the safety switch then the safety switch is bad. Did you check that the spring steel tab that should be on the brake pedal rock shaft is intact? The one that depresses the neutral safety switch?
