Luther and Tom,

You are lucky. There's still no 22's around here. I did see some at a gun show for 100 bucks a brick (500 rounds)!
I received a sale paper one evening from Gander Mountain showing 22's for sale with a limit of one box per customer. I called the next morning and they had over 100 customers that night buying them. By that morning they were sold out.
Guess I will just have to wait a little longer on the 22's. You can find any other kind of ammo at a decent price now, except for the 22's.
Oh, I almost forgot, I cannot find any Sierra 1210(.224) soft point Hornet bullets either. I have plenty of primers, brass, and powder.

I have my Illinois FID card, but can I buy ammo in different states??

I can't find any HP 357 SIG bullets around here and the internet places want over 1.00 a piece for them.

I got 38 special reloads for $35.00 for 100 round the other day. The guy didn't have the 357's.

What is it with the .22 rounds not being available??? Is Uncle Sam still buying them all up? That would make a lot of sense seeing how so many .22s are used in crime (ha).

I check every time I go to Wally World and haven't seen any for over a year now...maybe longer.

I just don't understand.

Tom: Yes, as far as I know. My brother-in-law from CO bought a lot of ammo at G.A.T. Guns in Dundee last summer and all he needed was his CO driver’s license. Here in TX, when I show my ID and they see I’m from IL, they then ask to see my FOID card. I haven’t checked down here for availability of .22 ammo.

Wayne,

No,the feds are not buying up all the 22's. A LOT of other people are.
We all know how ammo prices have skyrocketed, so everyone is buying 22's to shoot instead of the very expensive bigger guns.
Why spend hundreds of dollars on 223, 5.56, etc., when you can spend less than 100 bucks for about the same amount of rounds of 22's.
A lot of people love to buy guns that hold as many rounds of ammo as possible, and go and shoot thousands of rounds at various types of targets. This is why there is a shortage of 22 ammo.
You can buy any type/style of firearm that shoots 22 ammo. There are AK's, AR's, and any style you want. It has been common for people to spend an evening shooting around 5000 rounds or more of 22's in their AR-22.
I don't think it is as common to see now!
I have been to several gun shows in the past few months, and I would say over half of the guns for sale were 22's.

Then why is 357 ammo so scarce, is everyone using them for home defense or did we run out of lead?

Well Paul, if they have .22's down there I'll send you some $$ and bring home a bunch.

Keith O.,

Not sure why 357 ammo is short in your area. There is a decent supply of it around here. You may have a point about it being used for self defense. Hollow point ammo is still a little hard to find. I did run across some JHP 357 for $23.00/box of 50. I got 6 boxes. Gun shows have the best deals on ammo. The local gun shops are still charging a pretty good premium for ammo.

That's a good price Marty,.46cents a round that's the cheapest I can find it on the internet. If I buy 1000 rounds I can get them for .40cents apiece but I don't have 400 dollars for ammo at the moment.

Keith,

I don't know if 357 JHP will be any cheaper, they were over $1.00 a round not too long ago. Hang in there, more ammo is on the way. After the hoarders get their bunkers full, maybe we can get some.

Allen,

Maybe that's why Ruger came to North Carolina to manufacture some of their guns. They ought to move their corporate headquarters from CT to NC too. "No offence anyone!"
Bought a Ruger American 22LR today. It was made in Mayodan, NC, about 12 miles from my home. Can't wait to get it set up and see what kind of groups it will shoot!

Marty,
Now the trick is getting .22 LR's. Just got two boxes of .22 Longs, and paid too much for those, but better than nuthin'.

Ammo is sssllloooooowwwlllyy coming back. Stopped by the local wallymart and they had several boxes of 9mm, 357,44mag.,along with other types.
Still no 22's or 380's yet.

Good for Marty, but still can't find .22's around here. Got some .22 longs and had to pay too much for those. The rounds were OK priced but I get bent over on the shipping. REALLY BEGINNING TO PISS ME OFF!

YEE HAW!!!! Got to Wally World just as the shipment was being unloaded. Got 3 boxes of 525 = 1575 rounds. Might have to go back at 12:01 and see if there are any left. (Still saying under my breath though, "*******S!")
