Cub Cadet 125 Demonstrator??

I am currently working on preparing to paint my Cub Cadet 125, but before I paint I want to make sure it has been repainted the wrong color(pictures enclosed). It was a white grill casting and a white dash tower. I figured that this was wrong and someone had repainted it but I wanted to make sure it wasn’t a demonstrator or something. Thanks for any help.

Also looking for a place that sells a full decal kit including headlight panel decal, warning labels, etc. I’ve heard Maple Hunter Decals is good, is that correct?

Really doubt it was a demonstrator. The white and the decal look newer than the rest of the tractor.

No such thing as a demonstrator for these. That tractor has been at least partially repainted- the hood decals are on backwards.

The hood, fiberglass dash, and front wheels are white. The rest of the tractor itself is yellow.

Yes on Maple Hunter, really excellent customer service. I was careless with a hood decal, they took care of it. From what I've seen there were three yellows but just one off-white. See Digger with your s/n. The hood needs work, the frame may just need a good cleaning.

3 shades of white during IH production, and one shade of yellow.

If you get Irongard white from an IH dealer, it will be the 935 white that was used last. If you want the other colors, you will have to have auto paint tinted with the numbers here:

Well Matt, there was a second yellow noted as 483B for a limited number of serial numbers, but no one seems to have researched exactly what it was and no cross referencing numbers show up. It's on the paint chart you linked. Probably had some more active lead ingredient to help it stick since no primer was used. Often wondered about not using primer. Some of the old units still really look good out there.

Can't remember who posted the info, but IIRC they are the same shade of yellow, but one had a corrosion inhibitor.

Makes you wonder if the original had the corrosion inhibitor and they went back to including it.

Thanks. I heard that it is hard to apply the dash sticker to the dash tin without ruining it. Any tips on applying that? Also, my 125 has a horn button in the middle of the dash and the hood anti rattle spring(i think) that is on my 124 isn't on the 125. Is this where a horn would have been mounted? If not, any ideas to fix the button hole in the dash tin?

I would very carefully pre-crease it somewhat where it makes the bend just above the throttle lever.
You will probably find that the new decal does not cover very well the openings as it is a bit on the small side, short of reaching all the way around the opening as if it has shrunk, especially around the throttle lever opening.

Remove throttle handle, bit of a pain. Next, some lipstick on the horn button. Start from the throttle side for the best possible fit for horn button. Drill out lipstick mark with a forstner bit. Now the decal shud lay flat, use lipstick on everything you need to cut out, don't forgot the small screws.
I did this with my CC102, you're gonna love the result.

Also meant to ask if that horn button is original. How would I tell if it had the horn option installed at the dealer?

I have been into Cub Cadets since 1961 and never, ever came across one with a horn!

Beep, beep, It was an accessory in the 1969 pamplet, on the 70-125 I have owned 2 that had that option, but the horns varied in shape.

I see it is also in the 1970 parts and accessories brochure also so it will cover the 1x6, 1x7 tractors. No instructions, the two I had the horn was located behind the battery, the button was located on the tower where the chrome plug was..

The horn is also in the 1966, 1968, 1970, 1972, 1975, 1976 and the 1977 Parts and Accessories catalogs. I would assume it was also in the 1967, 1969, 1971, 1973 and 1974 Parts and Accessories catalogs . It's not listed in the 1963,1964 or the 1978 Parts and Accessories catalogs.
