Clutch Pressure plate issue

I was rebuilding a narrow frame clutch assembly. Something didn't look right when everything was apart. Needless to say the pressure plates are warp big time. The hubs from pressure plates are butted against each other. There is a .040 to .060 gap ( where my finger is pointing ) at the outer edge. The drive shaft coupler was loose. Not sure if the bolts holding the motor were tight.
Owner says tractor was working ok.
Anyone have any thoughts on why the discs were like this?

Nope...those are supposed to be perfectly flat and perpendicular to the axis of the driveshaft. Clamped together in a vise like that, there should be no gap.

So someone's been riding the clutch and really warming it up?
