I'm just bustin your ars. I agree with everything Ken said. I won't buy anything that is made in China , even though I don't shop much. My wife doesn't really care where it's made, we can't seem to get it through her head. You should see her shopping with my mother, mom will look for where it's made and if it doesn't say she won't buy it thinking it could be made there. My wife will pick up anything and my mother will say "where is that made...don't buy that"....entertaining

I have a back hills education

Jim - There's a hell of a lot of difference between China and Japan.

Japan is trying to help us in the war on terror and YES I DO think it needed fought "over there" rather than on main street USA.

I have never forgot what they did to our Brave Soliders in WWII in Bataan or the Bataan Death March just to name one. I still think they are barbaric for doing so and that we should have dropped 2 dozen atomic bombs on them rather than just 2.

That was war , no matter how barbaric their tatics it did not involve our young innocent childern.

My brother-in-law goes to Japan quite offten and speaks the language as he has to deal with them working for the auto company that he's with in Indiana ... I had him watch the History Channel's Bataan Death March video that I bought just so he'd know what kind of people he's dealing with.

China has been turning away our military ships from docking for shore leave ... but by god they don't turn away any ships that load all the phuking crap they sell over here ! (ever wonder if Wal Mart will cut cost by having their own ships)

China has tried to poison our young kids so that their brain wont function clearly in the next couple of generations ... makes it easier for them to take over a country that can't think or see what's coming.

Our Yorkie has a skin diease and I had him tested for lead to see if all those lead painted chew toys he likes so much was the cause. It wasn't.

They sell millions of products in this country that they know will fail but they also know that the average person will go buy it again when it fails because that's all the majority of the population can afford. They sell it knowing that we will keep finacing their military.

There's no educating the public though when it comes to their billfold. I can't buy a South Bend lathe because of the $12k price tag BUT it looks exactly like the $3k China Enco lathe I bought some years back ... we can thank America for that.

Oh and about my Toy ... it's made with recycled PBR cans left on the islands by our soliders in WWII then rusted by American rust cancer here in the states then rebuilt with China steel here in The United Counties of Kentucky if you want to know it's history. Yes I DID throw a bitch fit to my steel supplier for getting China steel but that's what their supplier sells.

outta smokes ... brb

I can accept Japanese quality, most is pretty good
China has NO quality whatsoever, no pride in anything they do

I bought a fuel filter once for a fork lift and it was made in Russia ... made my day ... I got to throw a bitch fit to the parts guy !

Back to my topic ...

I use to tell my mother this stuff about where things are going and other things that are wrong and all she'd say was , "Well you can't do anything about it."
That's exactly why nothing gets done because no one trys to do anything. Our government as good as it is still throws crap at us and expects us to like it. You'd think they would have learned from the riots in the late 60s and early 70s. The government was in fear of being overthrown and I guess it was getting close to happening at one point.

I can say that I don't let things go without letting it be known how I feel about it if I don't like it. I'm one person but I do what I can.

I can say that I have done something to improve the saftey of every child in this country.

I turned in my oldest friends brother for child porn. I had to call the state police / the FBI / then FINALLY the governor's office BEFORE anything got done about it. He was an OTR driver so I do mean every child in this country.

After almost 1 year he is finally behind bars right now and his arraignment is this friday.

Oh and I don't shake hands anymore , they just hurt to bad to do it. I use to hold a bathroom scale in one hand and squeeze 150 pounds and hold it there with one hand. Now I get about 20.

No slaps on the shoulders either !!!! but I WILL take a cup of coffee

Ken, I write and call our congressmen ,speaker of the House, The Senate majority leader very often about a lot of the things I have read here this morning, and I usualy don't GET a response but if I do, it's a "canned" regurgitation that is off subject and is Bragging about what they TRIED to get through congress but COULDN'T. The other thing is, it's obvious that they Don't really give a poop about what you and I think. I don't know what to do except make Darn sure that I vote ONLY for people that are not in office! If There is no one else, I intend to vote for "anyone else!" Rich

Just think how strong this country would be if we would stop importing from China, and made it here. Brad

It once was and we once were.
That's not happened though since WWII.

If there were another world war and our foreign supplies were cutoff how long do you think we'd last ?
No oil
No Mr. Coffee makers
No auto parts to repair our vehicles
I'm not going to make a long list but you know what's imported that USE to be made here.

My theory on (what was big in the news but has since died down alot) North Korea building reactors and testing missles was that it was being done with China's backing. China could stop them IF they wanted it stopped. Oh sure everyonce in a while they act like they want it stopped but that's just for public relations for us.

Here's my take on it -
China wants the USofA to go in and stop or overthrow little man Kim and get sucked into a war with N.K. Then up steps China to "protect" their little neighbor and that way they can go to war with us via North Korea and ALL the blame will be our falut in the eyes of the world.

Then there's the other guy on the block -
Russia's Puttin is turning back into the man he once was. You'd better not take your attention off him either.

As for "Free Health Care" in this country why not ?
We've got the money , and Free Housing too ! ... oh wait , we're sending all of our money overseas to feed the hungry babies ... so they grow up strong to be terriost ! You ever wonder how many of them owe their very lives to us ?
Remember , we're the nation that doesn't care ... so some countries say EVEN though WE are the most giving of money / equipment / personnel / medicine.

I don't want to see kids go hungry , but I don't want those USA fed kids turning on us either.
I think it's time to take care of our own.

I've been there , my wife's been there ... did we get any help when we were hungry and needing medical help - NO!

I sold (tore down to rebuild) a 1962 Panhead Harley once for $50 so we could eat.

I watched my wife go for over a year bleeding needing an operation but couldn't get any medical assistance.

But by all means let's keep the terriost fed , keep importing our Wal Mart items and keep taking our jobs out of the country that MADE the companies in the first place.

America can't afford to buy the products it makes here , we have to export it to sell it.

I use to bust my ass welding out in the weather for $5 an hour ... but the cooks in the deli at Kroger got paid $15-$18 an hour for working inside in a climate controlled store.

KENtuckyKEN

In regards to your comment on the Bataan death march from WWII.
The Japs where just taking a page out of our own history books.
Or have you forgotten about the "Trail Of Tears" that was done to the orginial owners of this land we now call the USA by our own goverment.
The only promise the white man has ever kept is when he promised to take the red mans land.

Now I have no love lost for the Japs and I have the uttmost respect for those who lay down their lives to protect my freedom.

But lets not cry foul when some country does to our troops that we have not already done to others.

Lonny - Yes I'm guilty of forgetting , forgetting something that happened not that far from me actually.
You forgot to mention that it was 110 women and children that were massacared.
For those that don't know anything about it

I guess I should add though that the 110 although women and children were not tortured day in and day out like our soliders were. There's still a difference.

This is interesting reading. However somewhere isn't it written that two wrongs don't make a right? If I recall my history lessons about what the American government did so strongly unjustly to the Native American Indians was erradication to gain control of the tribal territories. With the Japanese during the Bataan Death March... The Japanese weren't accustomed according to their traditions of having to deal with prisoners. Especially such a large number of them at once. The Japanese culture/tradition believed in fighting to one's death or last man standing scenario. The Japanese military had absolutely no guidelines on what to do with these prisoners. I.E. feeding, clothing, providing medical for sick/wounded. They actually felt that the Americans and their allies should have killed themselves before surrendering and felt that the Allies had humiliated themselves by surrendering. Again the culture/tradition of the Japanese at that time.

Here is another perspective of "foolish thoughts and random nonsense thinking of Marlin". Isn't it sadly profound how with the Native American Indians there were white men that played BOTH sides of the fence. I.E. Supply the Indians with guns and ammunition and then help the government to try and erradicate them. These so-called for again lack of a better word at the moment "self gratifiers" used both sides for personal gain. Furs and other goods from the Indians in exchange for guns and ammunition. Money from the government for their "other services."

As a child I was told a very true story of a person that had a son that survived the Bataan Death March. This person had their own business also. Now my folks also spoke of how this person was involved in Black Market dealing during the war or a phrase what the government used when saying people were doing business "under the counter" or selling things to people that weren't supposed to have them. I.E. Farm machinery, tires, grain, the list was long. The lesson that I was taught from hearing this story reminds me of what I just wrote about those that dealed both ways during the 1800 era. They did it for personal gain and didn't care who they hurt so long as they profited. I reflect sometimes... our own government doesn't do that sort of thing in today's world... and then I awaken.

In closing. I know a truly wonderful WWII veteran that fought on the Japanese front. He lost the tips of three fingers and his thumb on his left hand, shot in the leg, and lost most of his hearing in his left ear. He was left handed and at Quadal Canal caught a Japanese hand grenade. He went to throw the grenade back and it exploded while leaving his hand. He has never received one dime in any disability benefits from the government although he tried. THIS Charlie once told me, "Marlin let me tell you this. NEITHER side were angels. BOTH sides did things that no one should be proud of."

this is a strange world that we live in. the indians were mistreated by the whites even when we where not at war with them. the japanese almost won the war against us and we were forced to use theBOMB to overcome them. we still pay the japanese for that.the indians have been paid very littlr for what we have taken from them. we trade very little with russia because of there way of living but we have made the japanese wealthy when they killed so many people from here.i ride the trail of tears every year on my mototcycle in rememberance or the cherokee and all indians.IMHO!!!!

Chinese companies are advertising heavily in the U.S., promoting their dental labs to dentists and other dental labs.

In St. Louis, Chuck DiMaria, a certified dental technician who runs DiMaria Dental Lab, says the issue came to a head several weeks ago, when an Ohio woman, who was suffering from mouth pain, had a newly installed crown examined, and it turned out to have lead in it.

The woman suffered swelling and mouth pain, unrelated to the pain associated with dental work.

Now, there are efforts underway to force dentists to explain where they are buying their dental crowns and bridges. Dentist Mike Grasso of west St. Louis County says a patient has a right to know where any dental implants or crowns were made.

Grasso says he wouldn't put anything in any patient's mouth that he wouldn't put in his family's or his own.

DiMaria says not only has lead been found in some Chinese work, but so has fecal bacteria. He says his work is sterilized before it is shipped, but apparently that's not the case for the Chinese goods.

There are two dental lab associations leading the charge against the Chinese products. The NADL, the National Association of Dental Labs, is worried that its members will be hurt by the imports, not only by losing business, but through negative publicity about implants that contain lead.

The other group is called the ACDLA, which stands for the American Cosmetic Dental Lab Associate, a Chicago group that has pushed for greater regulation of dental labs.

The Chinese labs are dramatically undercutting the American prices. In some cases, the price of Chinese-made teeth is 20 percent of the American-made goods. But DiMaria says the dental labs are acting as brokers, and the dentists buying from China outright are not passing the savings along. DiMaria says they are increasing profits at the expense of patients.
