Well a while back I posted about finding the best coil in todays world…

That’s when I found out through here that the Blue Coil from Bosch was discontinued and I believe it was Kirk that confirmed he no longer could get this through his business.

So after a cheap Scamazon coil and it failing I did some more research and did some Rock Auto hunting. Hopefully this Beru works out. Covers all the specs so guess we will see how it goes.

How do you find that on Rock Auto? Seems like they always want a vehicle to fit it to.
I started doing some back searching on older forms and reading up on what people were using. Found older Volkswagen models with points used the right ohms needed
 
Here is the coil I recommend. Specs are identical to the Bosch Blue, including the epoxy fill:

This is considered a high-vibration coil that should be ideal for a garden tractor. The 3.0 ohms primary resistance is perfectly suitable for breaker point ignition without use of an external ballast resistor.

Remember, it's the coil's turns-ratio that determines the primary resistance. Contrary to popular belief, there is no such thing as a coil with an internal resistor. Resistance is due to the length of wire in the primary winding, gauge, and turns ratio, secondary/primary. Any coil with a primary resistance lower than 3.0 ohms draws more primary current and this will drastically reduce operating life of the points.

This is exactly what I said in my one comment above but in greater detail and I appreciate that lol. Finding a coil that worked just took a little time and research!
