Picked up a 124 this summer with a trashed transmission, differential and drive line.
Engine has been rebuilt in the past and is clean inside but has balance gears that are really loose.
They gotta go!
Have the bottom one out, that was the easy part.
However, I see no way to remove the upper one without removing the crankshaft.
No matter which way the crank is turned there is always a throw in the way of sliding the remaining balance gear off it's shaft.
I have heard of folks breaking the gear in order to remove it.
Any tips here from those of you that have done this successfully without screwing something up?
Thanks!
