99 Cub Cadet 7300 Grinding noise

As the title implies, I have a 99 cup cadet 7300 with about $800 on it, I was moving Equipment around today with it and I noticed while backing up I was getting a metal on metal sound. Kinda like when you hear your brakes grinding…
I use the loader to lift the front end up off the ground and turned the front axle both directions and cannot replicate the sound.
My thought is, could it be the BRAKES?
IF it is the BRAKES, can you even buy the brakes for them?, Anybody done them or have an idea on how to do them.

I’m thinking about jacking up the back end off the ground and turning the wheels and seeing if I can replicate the sound that way.. I noticed the sound seems to be more prevalent backing up and if I’m going faster while backing up.

Looking for ideas or thoughts on what that noise could be… any suggestions would be helpful. And appreciated.

Something you could try is decoupling the brake pedals and braking the individual wheels to see if one has reduced or no braking; or if the noise changes.

John,if it were me,I'd jack it up and rotate each wheel...thinking wheel bearing ..if not you could rotate drive shaft as well...

I’ve tried that, and I have not really noticed a difference.

I hadn’t even thought about a wheel bearing. Are they even available? I’m going to add a video of the noise maybe you guys can help me isolate the problem. Appreciate all the help guys.

Here is a video with the phone stuck to the brake housing I’ll call it on the passenger side. I am simply moving forward and backwards in the barn. Leo is definitely more prevalent on the passenger side and this video gives you a pretty good auditory of what it sounds like.

john,almost any bearing is available..not very many co.design their own..After listening I would still jack up one side at a time and try turning by hand..

One of my pet peeves is when somebody post a problem they’re having ask for help and then when they find a solution, they don’t follow up on their post. So…

I’m gonna include a video because it’s just easier to Show the troubleshooting I did to find the problem. The video has not been edited so you kind of see the running around. It’s a little slow and boring… but hopefully it’ll help. Someone understand the troubleshooting steps I went through to figure out the problem.

Long story short, it turns out it was the shield in the picture where clamps down, (red circle)onto the front driveshaft.

Here’s the video, if you’re interested in the process, I used to isolate the noise…
