All,

Have not been on here much lately, but do try to read a little from time to time. Everything is busy and I added a bathroom remodel (gutted everything) to the list.......

I do have a nice little loader sub-frame reinforcement project waiting in the wings for when the bathroom is complete.....and then it will be time to switch over to the winter implements.

Btw - I'm still on the original tires on my 129 .. going on 35 years and counting..

Steve - Ref: the "show no go" ... kinda like stand up exhaust pipes on a Cub (unless there's a need like on a plowin' smoker...)????

More from Cubarama.

"Stupid is, what stupid does" I think that's what Forrest Gump said.

Sorry, I like my front ags even if they are in the power position!

All my cub's but the 104 have the original tires on them. The 104 has no tires as of yet and I need my jackstands back from it! I have decided to put the ags in the back and have heard nothing but good things about the triple ribs up front so thats whats going to go on there. I decided long ago that was the set up I wanted to use. All in all everyone has to decide for themselves what they want to run and I believe it is a personal preference for each and everyone of us. Just my .02

Terry, I got to make sure my daughter doesnt see that pink Cub! She will get crazy ideas and want one, and with a Hanna Montana hood graphic!

Quoting myself....

"But in the end, it's your machine and if you like it with ags up front...Go For It!"

My post was intend to explain why some big tractors have ags on the front (FWA) and why those that don't have steering tires.

Put what ever you want on your Cubs and be happy

I love the V-61's, especially on the SGT's

Tom,

If only there was a pumpkin on that front axle like a certain 100 from WI.......who wouldn't love to own that!!!!

I agree with Steve, Do you own thang, if you like it, keep it.

Scott S, correction, just the tractor. Jesse Eilbes sold/trdaed to to me. It runs great all it would need is a dash tower, wiring harness, and a possible generator/starter check. it even has headlights!...but I need to find a raer grote light..

Jesse, Since im thinking of it, did you have any troubles with starting it? because i put the new battery in it and it acted like there wasnt enough juice to turn it over. so i did what you did and oput the charger on it and then it fired right up. Did it sit for a few years prior to when you used it last winter? It seems k=like its not generating the juice to go back into the battery. Just thought i would ask. Oh ya, one more question- did you look at the trunion when you changed the tranny oil?

All I can say is that I would not run turf tires if they were free and I got paid every time I used the Cub.

Who woulda' thought that 2 little pictures would've caused such a ruckus to bring Steve B. outta hiding! Tom H., ya got me ROFL.. as always!
Actually, I have a winter and summer setup. The wider rear wheels, weighted inside and out with chains and then the new tires. For the summer there's the original 6 rib turfs with the skinny rear wheels.
It's funny now to me that when I asked for opinions nobody replied. Now that I got a deal on tires and installed them everyone wants to chime in when all I was doing was trying to help someone else see what I got done.

In any event, I'll try'em out "backwards" and then switch'em around to see if there's any difference in traction. They do make steering noticably easier!

If I can see a performance gain I'll be sure to let you all know.

Scott My type of color blindness may affect this but that "pink" cub looks full on lavender to me.
Mike that was just fun.

Mike:
How about running one forward and the other backwards this winter?? Give us the test results after the first big blizzard...

Kendell, We really need a FAQ on how to get liquids out of a keyboard. I almost choked.

Well the daughter did see the lavender/pink cubbie on here. Her response "COOOOL!, Is that my size?" So far so good she has not mentioned that she wants one......yet.

Kendall... then I wouldn't know if I'm coming or going now would I?

Ya just gotta love a good sense of humor!

Dave:
The cup of coffee I spilled (part of) in the keyboard last night ran out when I tipped it on edge.. (In 40 + years of computer use, starting with an IBM 1052 Selectric on a 360/30 mainframe, this is about the second time I've put liquid in a keyboard - I'm getting old..).

Mike: That'd keep the trappers that are tracking you guessing..

We've all made mods on our Cubs that may be goofy to someone else. Back before I did my first PTO clutch overhaul, I "fixed" the disengagement problem by making the throwout arm on the pedestal longer by welding a nut on top of the arm and drilling it out for the rod. Looks like hell now, but I checked the biil of sale on the 129 and it's mine, nobody else's name on it..

Where's the Boss?????

Scott S.,
Thanks for sharing your 12HP/123 Cub data information!

Model #: 12HP, electric start and special oil pan (needed for Cub installations);
Spec #: indicates it was intended for Tractor use;
Engine build date: 1967
Tractor build date: Sept - 1967

As Dave R. mentioned, since your dipstick tube is the long tube, located on the RH side of the engine behind the starter/generator, the oil dipstick would have to pass right thru the same area as where the balance gears would be located inside... so it's hard to imagine your engine has balance gears. If/when you pull the oil pan, take a look up inside and please confirm there are NO balance gears - and post your inspection results here. Thanks again!
