John M glad you found a blade 150 is a little high but still good and well worth it and you don't have to pay shipping.

As for the snow thrower the 90 degee gear box is something to look at (is there play in it)
next check the chain and sprocket for wear, u joints also need checking. And finally check the auger to see if its chewed up.

As for the driveway, I have a gravel drive and sold both my QA36 and QA42 throwers and only use the blade. JMHO

Earl-

Have the grenade gears been removed from the engine? If not that's the first thing I'd do.

Also, it's pretty important to get the "S" mark (not the S but the mark beside it) as close to the center of the hole as possible.

.

Hey all, whats the thought on repairing worn front axle pivot points on a NF. the holes are more oval then round.

Wayne:
When you say the grenade gears I assume that you mean the balancing gears, if so they are gone.
I have searched the flywheel and do not see an S. The only mark that I see is a straight line across the flywheel. Does anyone else have just a line?
Earl

Ray,
I replaced the bushings on my 126. Not an easy job however as they are spun welded in place. I had to cut them in several places w/a sawzall from the inside out and cold chizel 'em from the "C" channel.

New ones are a bit pricey as well. Next time I will opt for a short piece of the correct size bushing mat'l and cut my own.

I have been looking for a Brinly planter in good or better condition for about a year. A weekend ago I ended up with two! They are in original condition with minimal rust and both came with seed plates and extra drive sprockets. One also has the gauge marker option. I plan to keep the green and red one and change out the Wheel Horse hitch. A question I have is why the different colors? I've done some research, but haven't found too much information. Other than color, the units are close to the same. Brinly, Cole and Covington seem to be connected in some way. Did Brinly just put their own decals on a Cole planter?

Earl-

I'd be willing to bet the S is there. They have a wonderful way of disappearing in rust and I've also found them just lightly stamped. Anytime I have a flywheel on the bench I make sure to clean the area and use white paint over the S mark.

Good to hear the balance gears are out and yes, I refer to them as grenade gears.

Have you checked the engine mounting bolts?

Paul T--just thinking out loud here...we just finished restoring my dads 1965 Wheel Horse 875. I bought him a sales brochure for it. In the back was listed all the attachments and many were manufactured by Brinly but they had the WH tongue style hitch and all were painted red including the planter. It may be that whoever subbed them out specified whether or not they wanted the stock color scheme or something unique to them...with Cub Cadet the white looked perfectly at home.

Earl L,

As Wayne suggests, it sounds like a timing issue on your 129.
