Wyatt had the best tires for plowing, IMHO. Maybe he'll chime in.

Man, I thought Texas was supposed to get all the rain. 4" since yesterday, and it's still coming!!!

Bruce -

Dangit, ya got my Pepsi bottle anyway!

Good to see ya again and thanks again for loaning me the tag.

Too bad it had to rain, doesn't look good for today either.

Tom H -

So how DID you do at the pull? I was too busy plotting my escape to ask yesterday

Getting ready for PD and I've got a question about weighting my tractor and which of the 2 plows I have that I should use.

Tractor is a 125, equipped with a spring assist. For weight I have available:
1 pair of 8.50 turfs with chains, filled with ~40lbs. of washer fluid per tire
1 pair of IH weights
1 pair of 50 lb. weights

I also have an 8" plow and a 10".

So, how should I weight this thing and which plow should I use? I saw somewhere there should be more weight on the land side. How much?

Thanks!

Bryan,
I got my coffee mug on the 109, too. Hope the "new guy" thing works out okay.
Pics of Tom in the pulling section.
Thanks to both of you for the help loading.

Matt, I weight evenly on both sides. But I've never plowed with turfies. I have 78lbs on each side of the 1000 and 1282 and think they did nicely. I am also 225lbs though. Now, at Travis' in the spring I ran about 125lbs a side on Pat's 1200. He has 8.50s on it too. He had very little wheel slip at all. I will run him a little lighter this fall. Pull the 10 inch plow. You will do well and everyone following you will be happier also.

Matt, I would do just what Glen said. Can you bolt one of the IH weights to the 50#ers? If so maybe try bolting one or two to the high side.

Tom-

Yes I can, I'll just have to get a longer set of bolts.

I think I'll bring both plows and try both, so if I have trouble with the 10" I can use the 8". Thanks for the help.

The "hooks" to which Steve Blunier refers were Titan 489 X/T ATV rubber. I think mine were 10 x 25 - 12. I don't recall if they make (made?) a 9" wide version, but that'd be my recommendation if someone wants to go that way. I couldn't get 'em to spin with 23hp and I think they'd hang on for a bunch more if you can afford that kind of power.

See y'all on the 22nd.

Keith

Matt,

I know that you will not have a problem pulling a 10" with a 125. At travis last spring I had my 125 with 8.5 ags and about 60 pounds per side only, but I am fortunate to be in the 240+ club

. I have also pulled a 12" with my 125 and it did it but it had to be convinced a little, so I have no doubt that you could pull a 10" with it, I use an 8" on my original and it does it no problem, so i wouldn't worry about it. Either way, man I can't wait for plowday.

Just heard about PD10, I hope to make it but don't know what tractor or tractors I'll bring. I'll bring this little 4 cylinder 5 speed rig to try & save some gas money.

Not much room on that little 14ft. trailer.

I think Travis is referring to Wyatt's Goodyear 7x12 Dyna-Torque II tires....yes they were very well suited to plowing!!!!!

I went out to the plow day site tonite. They had 2.5 inches of rain this weekend. It is forty acres of FLAT heavy black Il dirt. You can almost see all forty acres from any corner. Should be a good pull. Drilled beans are still in and will be done by an IH rotary combine. Beans look good. There is a small building site and should be plenty of parking. The site is on Il. Rt. 38 about 7 miles west of Rochelle. If some want to play a little on Friday nite, give me a shout. Maybe we can grill out and have a cold tool or something.

Hugh,

Lats I checked, this spring, Firestone only made 8.50 and 26x12 versions of the 23 deg Field & Road.

We should have plenty of moisture this spring too. Seems like we get this every other week lately. We're right where the blue X is.

Travis- I think we are in Monsoon season up here!!! Went to deliver some stuff to a friend and all that I could see was bean fields under water and the ditches filled up to the brim, even hit a couple spots on one gravel where the road had partially washed out.

Nice video Charlie. That vac of yours looks like a great addition to your fleet of accessories.

KENT O. - My Two Cents on the tire thing is to throw an extra set of wheel weights on the 8.50 Firestones and run them. I've been amazed how those things perform since I saw My first set about 35 yrs ago. Travis, Steve - Those Dyna-Torques Wyatt had really did hook-up plowing.
