Hi Kevin,

Here's the Trac Vac system I have on my 125. I took a picture of the bracket on the back of the tractor too. The Trac Vac sits on the top of a bolt on bracket and uses a 5/8" bolt to attach to the implement mount. It's powered by a 5hp B&S. The hood unlatches and lifts out of the way to dump the clippings.

Gotta love Drury Inn... free internet service.......CC Forum reading while on biz trips!!!!!

Just registered for PD, should be a good time!!!!

Actually in the fall I remove the bag and just chop up the leaves and spread them on the grass.
Less work and probably good for the soil.

I have a 1966 Model 122 Cub Cadet with what seems to be the original Kohler K301AS 12 HP engine on it. It has battery ignition in it. Everything I have read in the Kohler Service Manual says that the timing marks on the fly wheel should be a "T" for top dead center, -AND- an "S" or "SP" for the 20 degrees before top dead center ignition timing mark. The fly wheel on this particular engine only has one, completely unlabeled mark on it; there is no T, S or SP notation on the fly wheel at all ... just this one unlabeled mark. From the way the points move and the piston stroke, it would appear that this is the 20 degrees BTDC mark. Has anyone out there ever seen a Kohler 301 engine with just one unlabeled mark on the fly wheel? Can I assume that the one, unlabeled mark is at 20 degrees BTDC?

Charlie, that would be Denny Frisk's vac setup that you posted. Here are 5 more pics of it.

Most low to mid chains have free internet nowadays, it just depends on how much crap they want you to install to use it.

Funny how the pricier chains tend to charge for internet.

However, you can't beat an EDGE/GPRS wireless connection for accessing the internet from ANYWHERE

As long as there's a cell tower, ya have access. Even ordered a book from Amazon.com while driving thru "middle of nowhere" Kentucky (julie was driving, of course!)...

My 149 is using Oil at a good rate of about 1/4 Qt per two hours. Compression test are as follows:
Without oil in the Cylender top 110 psi.
With oil 125 psi.

What repair is indicated?
Thanks, Herb

Herbert, while you do see a increase in compression after adding oil to the cyl. (indication of ring leakage) 110 isn't all that bad for comp. considering that the comp. release is fuctioning. a leak down test may tell you more but you need to move the comp. release out of the way by removing the cam cover on the side of the block & fliping it up so it don't go under the lifter or adjust the lash on the exhaust valve so it don't stay open.either works.another thing would be to check crankcase PSI. this can be done by making a simple monometer as shown in most kohler manuals. it is pretty simple to do. one thing you could check is to make sure the breather is put together properly. this could cause hi crankcase PSI causing oil consumption. you could have really bad valve guides but that kind of oil consumption is pretty hi for that.

It's nice to only have to take up one seat on the train, too. And the bluejacking opportunities are fun, too...

Hopefully you'll drop by the Lake County show - I can run it all down for ya. See if I can do some "live" posts. May take some jockeying of SD and CF cards around, but it CAN be done, if only at cell phone cam resolutions...

Kraig - Those would be pic's of "Lawn-Vac Version 2.0". I'm on Version 3.0 now. I added a PTO clutch to the new engine I put on the thing last fall. I almost lost My thumb trying to flip the belt off the drive pulleys one night about 3 yrs ago. Plus Dad wanted the engine from his 1962 Cub Cadet back so I rebuilt the engine (K-181) that was in the 72 when I bought it in Jan. '81
Wyatt took a bunch of pic's that day. You can see His 72 in the background of one of them. Best day was when He came out and helped mow one fall. His 169 & 44" deck with 'Gators and My 72 & 38" deck. Imagine a mental picture of Wyatt on His 169, with FOUR wheel weights per side... in a dust cloud of powdered leaves running into the setting sun ;-)

Denny-
That's a heavy mowin machine!!!!
too bad I never have time to use it!

I have a question about the oil pan on a 14 hp k-series (341). I found a cast iron oil pan off a older John deer, (hope I didn't offend anyone) that is a close match to the stock aluminium pan. The differance being two threaded holes that are on the side of the pan. It's been a long time since I disassembled this thing, and I can't remember. Is there any reason I cannot use the cast iron pan? And what bolts up to these holes?

With all the talk about baggers and vacs my question is this. How difficult would it be to graft a current bagger on to a 149. I'm sure I can handle mounting it on the rear but what fabbing a chute for the deck discharge. Any special considerations. Will the grass have enough velocity to make it to the bagger.

HEY WYATT! good to see You post! When's a good time to come & see pretty leaves? Talk Cub Cadets, etc...? I'll give You a call this weekend, Probably Sunday PM.

Which is why we have an MTD topic. Posts will be moved there...

Kraig -

Thanks for posting the diagram - it's been moved with Bryan's post. Oh how I wish we could make topics sticky over there...

Chuck J., my guess would be that if the mower deck and bagger are not designed to work together you'll need one with a seperate engine to run a blower to cleanly move the grass/leaves/whatever to the hopper.

Big Bean.)

Kraig -

Good news. Stickiness is coming to Discus 5!
