What type of spring can I replace my stock and worn out clutch spring with. I would like it to have more resistance but I dont want to have to stand up on the tractor to put the clutch in. Im having some clutch slipage when using my brinly plow. I just rebuilt the clutch back in may except for the big spring. I've seen red, blue, and yellow before. What lengths are used. Any help would be great. Thanks,Dustin

The cost for my Killer Kohler rebuild including new parts, used parts, machining fees, David's "performance tweaking", painting and assembly fees, shipping costs and my travel costs to deliver and pick up the engine was somewhere just under $1000 (or might be just over, I wasn't really keeping track).

Please note that I did not include the original cost of the engine in this. The parts cost made up the largest percentage of the cost followed by the machine shop fees for the cam and engine boring. David did his " performance tweaking" and other work at his leisure as a winter project. I must apologize to David for dropping the ball on getting it up and running.

I was thinking I could get both the Original and the 125 refurbished this summer. I do hope to get it installed in the 105 chassis for a break in before winter. Who knows, if the 105 chassis is up to it I might even use it to haul firewood this winter.

Did you true up the clutch plates in a lathe? I'm using a stock spring in my 100 clutch assembly and not having any slipage problems. I pull a 10 Brinly plow with my 100 in 2nd gear.

The clutch plates must be flat. The only way to do that is to true them in a lathe. Belt sander-sanding disk doesn't work.

There is a picture on my clutch disk that were trued on a lathe towards the bottom of the write up.

and i do have a small prob, there is not a plate on my 125 (spec) so i can order the right head bolts and studs. so i with stupid and can`t find the info i need. Thanks for help if you can. later Don T

My plates were trued in a cnc lathe here at work. When I rebuilt mine I reused the spring and "friction disk"?? I just assumed my spring was getting weak. I want my motor to stall out be for the clutch slips. Do you know how many lbs. the stock spring is rated at?
 
I don't reuse a clutch disk. They have high and low spots in them and will a glazed finish to them.
stock spring has 200 to 250 pounds
blue spring has 650 pounds
red spring has 800 pounds
yellow spring has 1100 pounds

I have a 800 pound spring in my 86. It's too much spring for everyday use.

Would a blue spring be too much for every day use. I was thinking that if the stock spring is around 200 or so then 400 or so might do the job. Im looking to get better performance from the stock components with exception of the spring. Also what is length of these springs?

i run a blue spring on my 124 but i have a Aluminum disk it will stall the motor before it slips in 3rd and its not to bad to press in the clutch a little stiffer then stock but not bad
