Kraig - great addition... Thanks!! It's understandable by even us "mekanicks"..

Dennis - I agree, brass will work, but I've had even copper bond when using TIG.. Best approach is to learn how to fill without backing, if possible. It leaves more of a dimple on the back side, but seems easier than trying to get a backer in place lots of times.. FLAP DISKS !!!

Larry C: I figured it was a typo, sometimes up is down and down is up.. Also sometimes, others put words in your mouth ..... does keep the forum busy, Hmmmm Charlie - more hits, more ad revenue?? (LOL)

I have used brake clean spray to clean up the insides of the rear end ,but diesel fuel is and oil and won`t hurt to use it also.Diesel is used here a lot because it has a lower flash point than gas and does clean up dirty parts nice . I have no idea as to what product most here use ?

I have not been on the forum for quite a while. I have had some health issues. I have the pre production Cub Cadet Original serial # 515. I will not be able to show the little tractor after retirement as I had planned. I will take pictures today and post them tomorrow.

James, sorry to hear about your health issues.

GET WELL SOON! Did you ever finish your Cub Cadet based skid steer?

James: Sorry to hear about the health issues; glad you decided to send the "O" (or Pre-"O" or maybe "Prem-O") on to what I'm sure will be a good home.

I hope today is a good day for you.

Don:
I agree Diesel is a great solvent, use it (or #1 home heating oil) but man, do I hate the smell!!

James:
You say you're going to post pictures - look forward to seeing them! - does that REALLY mean that you're going to sell it??

All these long post make my head hurt!

LOL @ Charlie...I laughed !!

Don...I do use alot of brake cleaner & carb cleaner, always stock up on that when its on sale.HAte to admit this but sometimes I even use gas, just a lil though,I wasnt sure if it woud eat the paint off inside the case if I poured about a gal. or so in it and kinda let it soak for a day or two. I thought about putting it inside a big plastic tote.

Amy:
And I've been accused of telling how to build a watch when somebody askes me what time it is - some of these guys are building Big Ben......

Using diesel fuel will not hurt the red sealer that was put on the inside of the case to seal it from leaking. Cast rear ends would leak if that red sealer was not applied by I H when they made the tractor . The diesel fuel will soften fresh paint I think .be careful . Diesel fuel is oil base and won`t hurt anything in the rear end.
