Charlie - ok, thanks for clarifying and pointing out the muffler can be adapted by adding that nipple. I actually wondered about that since that's the way I had to do my 169 K341 at the time I rebuilt it. The only difference is that my muffler has the long exhaust pipe.
Now, what's the story with the original 169 muffler you show in the last pic. It's not shown for sale on CC Specialties. Are you going ahead with having replacements made up?

Hello, My name is Dave W and have come to admit I have no power over IH Cub Cadets. It started innocently enough. I needed something to haul firewood up the hill, and my wife wished I would spend less time shoveling snow. I looked at a couple of Bohlen's and Simplicity's but forsaking the Jeri's and Gravely's of my youth I bought an IH CC 129 with a blade. All was well for several years. I really thought I could handle it, but I was clearing the driveway when the trusty cub gave a loud bang and stopped. As it happened I looked at Craigs list before I looked at the engine and wound up with a 1450 with wheel weights, and electrical gremlins for $100 and figured I'd make a Franken tractor. By then I learned that the 129 had blown the head gasket but the madness was upon me and I came home with a 1250 bearing a 44A deck, and not 2 weeks later a 129 with a sleeve hitch, functioning engine and what the owner said was an electric lift, but turned out to have acquired a ported hydro and hydraulic lift and 38" deck. I still thought I was in control. I put the running K301 and the 44A on my first Cadet and sold it this summer. I was sorting out the blown head gasket when this morning this happened

I blame CC Specialties for the great service getting the parts I needed to get the first 129 out the door. Now I've got a 129, a 1250, And 2 1450s. How do I escape this yellow spiral? Or at least what service would a QA42 that turns freely need before running it for the first time in 2 years?

David W - "Yellar and White Fever" is a chronic incurable condition. When the fever really gets hold of you generally the only thing that will help it subside is an addition to your cub coral. Sometimes you can bring it down a level by attending a show or similar event, but most of us have just come to accept that once it gets a good hold, ya just gotta go buy a Cub Cadet.

Dave W.. You obviously headed in the right direction by settling on IHC built Cubs, but I'm gonna have to put you on probation....... you SOLD the 129, the best looking, toughest tractor IHC ever built???? (disregard the followup you're now gonna see with a pic of a slant nose Cub).

Seriously, welcome to the Forum, and remember, every question you ask here gets answers that not only help you, but also educate every member here.

Welcome Dave,

You have come to the right place.... we will "help" you with your affliction.....

It all started somewhere with all of us. For me, it was my Dad in the mid 70's came home with a 105, tiller, deck and blade. He quickly figured out the tiller was a bit much for the 10hp, and the tiller was heavy with the Armstrong lift. He traded the 105 in on a 149 in 1978..... which he still has an is a worker (it actually has the blade on it for winter). I was 4 when the 149 came home. Now I have my own family, home and fleet. I currently have a 1650, 1450, 127 and most of a 782..... between Dad and I we have 12 IH Cubs and many attachments....

Yes, we still look at other ones...... I still want a Super and a Smoker... a Smoker Super would be great!!!!

Welcome!!!!
