My brother told me today about seeing a line of Cub Cadets, so off we go to look at them. They guy had 5 tractors lined up, a Sears Suburban, a Bolens 1050 and three Cubs. One was a 104 (I already have two of those), a 108 and what I believe is a 102. All rough cosmetically and not too original. The 104 has the right deck, the 108 looks the best, but has an off-brand deck and dry rotted front tires, the 102 has a true IH front snow blade, but a cobbled up lift rod with a huge helper spring that looks like it will be murder on one's right leg. That 102 also had a butchered frame. All 3 are non-running.

I might have been interested in the lot if the price was right, but I'm trying to convince the wife on a 147 in Indiana.

i had an ss-12 once. was a darn good g-t! hi/lo gears. some sort of industerial bearing motor.....but cant rember what it was. my young cousin still has it to this day and with all the toys he has,will not part with it. i was surprised the 102 didnot have the hi/lo gear box? i'am always looking for cubs like that.

I am new to the IHcub forum and have found tons of useful info from everyones posts. Anyway I have just acquired a 102 in great mechanical shape as far as I can tell. I was wondering where I could find origanal decal sets that look nice, ive seen some that dont look so hot on ebay, I do plan on painting it and will get some before pics up soon. thanks for all the great info.

The regulators I have seen have 3 or 4 terminals but are 2 pole regulators. I'm sure I'll come across a three pole though.

After thought.

If the regulator is a nice square.. it's a 2 pole. If it's definitely a rectangle it's a three pole.

The V/R on the Quietlines is a Voltage Regulator and Rectifier.

This is based on the motor running at WOT or 3600 RPMs.

A friend brought me what he called some junk yesterday. It needs engine rebuilt or replaced.
Will a engine from a 127 with the deep sump oil pan fit the 102 without changing the oil pan?

This is stupid.. but real. I have the standard fixed draw bar on my CCs. They accept a hitch ball. I picked up a nice to me little garden trailer that takes a 3/8 ish" pin. Would someone post a picture of what the best (safe,secure) hardware I need to make the connection?

Yes, it'll fit right in there. You're basically making it into a 122.

Remove the ball, and use a hitch pin.

My solution was to take a small plate (IIRC, this was a part of a support column, but any piece of 3/16 or 1/4 plate will do), drill two holes, one for the ball stud to go through and the other for the tab hitch, assemble with the ball stud as the fastener and you got a combo setup..

KENDELL - What do You have in the "Suitcase Weights aka Gallon Jugs" for ballast? You have almost more "STUFF" hanging off the back of that 129 than I do on My 982.....except You can still get to the fill/oil level plug on the rear cover.

what would cause a jerking on my 106? all the gears work fine, except for 2nd and 5th which jerks hard over and over again. Just started doing this. I changed the fluid after the winter.

Cast Iron...Look closely at the one on the left ...SC?G ... Those are a couple of the counterweights from the front of the SC*G which are used when the clamshell collector is mounted on the back.. My son in law cut me a good set of weights out of 1 1/2 plate that I use on the Sc*g when I need 'em..

I've never finished the sleeve hitch that's supposed to go on those brackets - you can see my adjustable lift assist spring peeking out there too..
