Big loss here yesterday my confuser died and I lost years of Cub pictures and info . We will try to see if I can get some of the Hard drive . I just hope it was not the hard drive that packed it in. I picked up a confuse to replace it in my shop and Monday I will be getting a back up drive for the shop also . This confuser I bought is different than any that I have seen . It was a game unit with gaming ram and mother board with copper pipe all through the case inside .

DT,
It must be the week of computer crashes. Mine dies last week.

well it lasted from my daughter . Must have been 19 years old. I should have run a back up drive

. I will and still hope to get some pictures back .

Maybe it has something with Microsoft not supporting XP after April 8.

Don. You'd be surprised what they can do with a hard drive as far as recovering info.
My laptop went south a couple years ago and Best Buy said it was a lost cause. But another private shop stuck the hard drive in the freezer for a while and was able to get it working again enough to pull most everything off it.

Best buy was probably motivated at the prospect of a new computer sale I think!
So don't give up yet, we have nearly all been down this path before and if some haven't yet this should be a wake up call

Charlie - hmmmm, I think I know what you're thinking. Something is sorta missing in the posts below, but they are all actually talking about pics of IHCC units and how they can be recovered from the great IHCC cloud in the sky.

Bill QQ - I was wondering when you'd get back to us. Like your comment on not knowing anything about IHCC cross-over of attachments.

Frankly Harry,
Right now setting in Mexico with the beach and sun, I could care less!
But figured I would test the laptop out.

Glad to hear your getting a little r&r, Charlie, drink one for me

Thought I would begin the process of cleaning gas tank on my original today, what a mess there's chunks of black junk in the bottom, to make matters worse I dropped it on the shop floor. Now it has a nice little dent.

Bill J, and others, thank you for your opinions and facts about the direct drive transmissions of the International Cub Cadet system, and those of the IH Cub Cadet. Well said!

Charlie, good to hear you got out of the frozen tundra. Have a good time.

Joel Goodine

I would fill that tank with diesel fuel and let it sit for a few days. I bet you will be surprised how clean it will come. BTDT

Charlie you might be the only guy for miles with a sun tan when you get home. Lay back and relax and enjoy the warm sun.

Ok don, tks, I've had some dirty tanks but this one takes the cake, I really didn't know we're to start. I will try that.

Joel Goodine

Throw in a few wheels nuts ; they will slide around and help break the crud loose . The purple grease remover they sell over here works great also.

Joel G - that's one nasty looking fuel tank! I've had mixed success with cleaning them, but next time, I might try electrolysis. It might be something to keep in your hip pocket in case you need it. Here is a link to an interesting article about the set-up/process.

John L - not sure I was much help, but your question made for some lively conversation ....

Charlie - is the rumor true you are at the reproduction factory where they make the replacement 169 mufflers? Enjoy the sun and fun!!!

Harry B - don't mess with me, else I might throw in with the gear drive fellows...

Ok what about this little gem,

I have had it soaking in gas for couple days, I think the PO was telling me the truth when he said it had be sitting for 25+ years

Joel-

That tank needs at least a treatment of muriatic acid IMO. Search it out here on the forum and be careful.

.....In order to save your precious IH information and pics.....SAVE EARLY, SAVE OFTEN........and BACKUP!!!!! In today's electronic age it's easy to forget that having it "at your finger tips" also means having it gone in an instant!!!

Don, I was fighting my own electronics issue this afternoon......those darn corroded battery terminals on the 582 got the best of it this winter!!! Solenoid would click like mad but no current to starter.........."reboot" the terminals with the wire brush and all is well.......

With the price of external backup drives so low (and they come with good backup software), there's very little reason to not have one and use it (I bought a 2 Terabyte last fall for under a $100.00). As far as MS not supporting XP after 4/08/2014, remember at this point in the OS lifecycle, they aren't shaking out bugs, they're covering up security holes. Stay outa the porn sites, don't open email or attachments or text messages from strangers and run some type of anti-virus/malware protection and you'll be safe.

Back on topic - for crudded up gas tanks, find an old barbecue rotisserie motor, rig a cradle to hold the tank, (attached to the motor), put your favorite degreaser/cleaner (like the Green Stuff) in it, throw in a good handfull of short drywall screws and let it tumble for a couple of days, changing the end to end slope every once in a while to make sure of coverage...
