Don: (Ddulac) That's a good enough theory for me. It would also explain the center being broken out of the steering wheel. The old guy refused to completely give up, though, and would steer a little to the left and straight ahead so I was able to drive him into the Cubhouse.

For all who may be interested the seals and bearings for the UD-6 creeper drive for an Original are still available from Madsons. I just ordered them all. Thanks to Charlie for the tip.

Lookin' good, Don, and brings me to a question I've been meaning to ask. I see you didn't paint the hydro unit. Is that for cooling purposes? (like an engine head).

Frank i want to get everything in order before i put on the last coat.I never painted the pump because i think they run cooler with out paint.I just looked at my hydo springs and they now have some free movement .Should they? I do have the 12K primed and ready for paint,so much to do!I have a list for Charlie,need some pins and a few other small things for the big finish.lol I do think that the bfh was the end to your steering box,lol makes sence of none lol Have a great Cub Day all. On my 100 the starter/generator turns the engine over very slowly - almost stopping in between revolutions. It is an original Delco. It will start the tractor after holding the starter button down for about a minute or so. The engine turns over easily by hand, and the generator pulley spins freely. It charges fine - about 14 volts. Is this the way it is supposed to work? I've bypassed the starter button and got the same results. The starter on my 147 turns rapidly and continuously. Also, the drive pulley seems to be small - does anyone know what the correct diameter of the pulley is? By the way, cub fever is contagious - my brother just picked up a 100 that we will be restoring soon.
 
i am consiering buying a cub 1100 with a tiller hooked up to use for tilling any other opinions on the 1100 to use for tilling. Matt S. likes his i was hoping for some more feed back on them. I hope it will play nice with my 128

Greg P: Please repeat after me: "Ground Circuit, Ground Circuit!!"

Put a new ground cable from the battery negative post to the starter mounting bracket...clean connecting surfaces thoroughly so there is only metal to metal contact...

Greg, I took my S/G apart and cleaned the stator and brushes and got much faster spinning and starting results. Should work for you too. Do this in addition to good grounding.

Buy the 1100 for the tiller and then put it on your 128! Is the tiller with this offer you're considering an IH rear mounted tiller and is it complete with gearbox, drive belts and mounting hardware? If so, its a good deal.

Generally if you put a rear mounted tiller on a regular gear drive Cub Cadet the consensus here on the forum has been that you will want to have a creeper drive kit installed on the transmission to give you a slower speed selection then 1st gear offers.

You can't put a creeper drive on the Peerless transmission in an 1100 but it may be slow enough in 1st gear to work just fine. My only concern with putting a rear mounted tiller on an 1100 would be wear and tear on the axles and bearings from the added weight of the tiller as they weigh about 200 lbs but apparently this 1100 has been used for tiller duty already and it has held up fine so what do I know.

Rear wheel weights would be something else to consider as well as the rearend of an 1100 will be considerably lighter and a regular Cub Cadet tranny. Finally, I hope the 1100 has a helper spring lift kit installed on it to aid in lifting the tiller or I hope you have strong arms. That's my $.02

Been awhile since I posted, Wife keeping me busy with some bathroom upgrades! I havent gotten too far on the 104 in a while. I have been taking apart the K which has proven to be a nightmare due to the fact it sat outside uncovered for years and every set screw and bolt on it was very rusted. A little bit of heat and some PB I finally got the pto bearing and collar off. So far I have aquired another hood, pto, mule drive, steering column and an S/G. I'm still waiting for my buddy to bring the sand blaster over so I can start working on the paint. All the bolts were rusted badly as well and will have to replace pretty much every one of them. Thank goodness for McMaster-Carr!! I have also been working on adding a 102 to the family but need to think on that one and how angry it will make my wife!! Any way hope all is well with everyone and will post some pics of the 104 when I can get working on it regularly.
 
I have a 1000 that is only getting fire when you release the key from the start position to the on position. I checked this with a light. This was my grandfathers and it is possible that he fiddled with the wiring. any clues?
 
Ok I like to see painted stuff especially cub cadets. This is my engine so far for the 127 stripping the rest in time.

Michael Lies (Mlies) its nice to see a fresh painted cub engine .I see a bottle of southern c there.is that what you do when the paint don`t come out the way you like lol.sit back and have a shot.I have some small parts that i will spray today on my 129 and some rear wheels to paint.

Don really knows his liquer bottles. I would have thought he'd drink Canadian Mist if the paint didn't turn out quite right.
