I asked this question last Friday, but got no response, maybe you are scratching your head like I am.
I have two K301 heads- one off of a CC129, and another off of a 1200. The head off of the 1200 has the sparkplug hole over the exhaust valve.
The head off of the 129 has the plug hole back further and more centered between the valves.
Is there an advantage having the plug over the exhaust valve?
Thanks,
Brad

Please help me avoid making a big mistake....

Can someone tell me the size/thread on the tighting nut on a mule drive for a 126?

Somewhere between my garage and the 5 hour drive to the river I lost this. No problem since the grass isn't growing yet. However, I realized when I got home that I don't know the size/thread and can't find it in the parts lookup or my manuals. I don't want to make the 10 round trip and not get to mow.
Thanks

David S.
There's a reason Cub Cadet went to all the trouble of making the Parts Lookup available to everyone.

Thanks Charle,
As I said in my note I looked at the parts lookup but didn't trust the information since it didn't show the nut on the diagram.
Remember, I am looking at a 10 hour drive and don't want to be fooled by a less-than-perfect diagram.

Brad, I see no advantage as to where the spark plug is located on one of these engines. If there was much of an advantage I would say one head might burn cleaner than the other but, there would be little to no power gain. If we were talking high performance engines the answer would be different.

i can get a cub 1200 with everything but tank and hood, he doesn't know if it runs, but knows front axle is broke, i can get it for 80.00 would their be enough on it to sell parts and get money back?

Thanks, Charlie. (You didn't like the bare faced look on the 123?).

I've got the bright idea that the stud kit will do 5 working tractors, 1 stud per wheel just to make it easier to line the stud bolts up.

Charlie must be trying to save server space with Kraig

like that wow.

you had better rethink the one stud per wheel! I though that would work but the wheel would spin . two is cats a$$ for sure.

I hauled another 8 loades of leaves today and bought a 1862 home here for a tune up. Rain here for the next 3 days and I had to have something to do lol
(ge wife on vacaition week of April 5th,Frank are you ready)

Charlie, I guess that puts me into an elite class...

Brad R.,
Kohler made a change to the K301A and K321A engines at tractor serial number 438962. This was to provide better combustion.
This change also required the modification of the top engine heat baffle cover. If an original head is replaced, the heat baffle must be changed too. (Info from the "Original Farmall Cub and Cub Cadet" book.)

just bot a cc that has "126" on the right side of the lid and "106" on the left side. which is it? or does it matter ?

Paul -- I saw a set of those clips advertised on ebay a month ago but didn't recognize them as anything I'd seen before on a mower deck mule drive. If they were originally intended for use with a snowthrower (and not a mower deck), then I won't be too concerned if I'm missing them. In general, though, my goal is to have my restorations be as factory-correct as I'm able.

Gerald........ Even a swami couldn't help ya with that amount of information...Did you look for the serial number or get any other information to give us a little hint?? Tell ya what, just average it out and call it a 116..

Marty,
Thanks, I don't have a baffle yet, so couldn't determin whether or not the sheet metal would be affected.
If I remember, Kraig McConaughey had to "customize" the top cover on his killer kohler due to this issue.
I had hoped that the later 1200 head would help eliminate the peck, peck, peck noise I hear at idle. It didn't.
Also adjusted the valves to no avail.
I am trying to get this 129 ready to sell.
But I'm getting more money tied up everytime I do something.
I really don't like to sell stuff that isn't right. I always figured it will come back and bite you later.
