Yeah that has to just press in 'cause the casting couldn't be swagged around it.

Wayne if you tap in several of the correct size screwdrivers around between the ring and casting, does the ring start to shrink

Kentucky-

Does the bearing itself get pressed in or does that ring come out first then pressed back in itself? I'd ;ike to know how to remove the bearing. I see no way to address it from the rear to knock it out.

Jeff-

I guess that's my main question. It looks like that ring comes out some how but I've never heard this discussed before.

Take a punch and tap on the outer race of the bushing through the 5/8" hole in the back; it will come right out. There is no retaining ring or anything, it's just pressed in as Ken says.

(There is a closed end on that part, good luck driving it out. )

Well Jerry If it had a closed end it would be even easier to get the bushing out.An old trick I used to get the piolet bearing out of the Crank (flywheel) was to fill the hole with grease and using a piece of round stock hammer on the grease. This will drive out the the sleeve bearing.btdt many times on standard trans . You should borrow a set of punches or buy a cheap set, they do come in handy.

Ya know what really scares me? The fact that I laugh right out loud at KENtuck's goofy sense of humor ("printed on Kodak paper").

Sorry - I know I shouldn't encourage him, but I just can't help it...

On topic - I picked up a rear lift (IH 3 point) for my 1450 today. (Thanks Kyler). I should be able to take it to Plow Day next month, where I'll pick up another plow (I'll call you, Andy). The 1450 won't have ag tires, but I have a good set of chains and plan to fill the turf tires with fluid. Should be a fun comparison, next to my 782 (repowered, non-kohler).

Wayne,
The bearing and the "ring" is a single unit and comes out together. The outer surface of the bronze bearing is ball shaped (hince it's name) and will pivot/swivel inside what you are calling a "ring". The ring is actually a race, shaped to fit the out side of the bearing. As Matt said, use a punch and tap it out from the rear of the casting by tapping on the race/"ring". It is replaced as a unit, bearing/bushing and ring/race, you can't just replace the bearing/bushing in the ring. If you go to CC Specialties site above and look under clutch, drive line, rear end parts, you can see a picture of a Self Aligning Ball Bushing, P/N 741-3004.

Thanks Paul-

I have finally got it. The bushing is frozen and has been soaking overnight. I now know what to do and understand a little better with your explanation.

Thanks to all others that helped as well...Wayne

Dennis Frisk

Were you sending out Emails from your Hotmail accout this morning or could you have a VIRUS.

RICHARD - Sorry, I think My PC has a "BUG". I hope it wasn't contagious.

If anybody gets any Emails with some reference to Google today you might want to trash it.

Richard:
Did Dennis fly to Nigeria the night before to attend the Tinapa Opening Ceremony where he ended up staying at a hotel, which was attacked by armed robbers. Did they take all of his money and his wallet. Did his email explain that he needed money badly, to the tune of $1500 so he could settle his hotel bill. Did he seem very scared and did he emphasize that he needed the money sent as soon as possible??? I don't think that was a scam....
