Scott Tanner... Can't even see the Cub in this mess..
Jason,
The filter needs to be a hydraulic suction filter, no check valve, Kraig was referring to. The LAST Fram I bought (15 yrs ago) would not work until the fluid got good and hot and softened up the flapper valve. symptoms as you described.

Scott T.
The Fleetguard HF6096 is correct for Cubs.

Here's the 126 sporting her new front slippers and brand new wheels (thanks Extreme)
Rears are original to the tractor (I think) and will be going back on.
Soon as the paint dries, she will get "hooded" and "dashed"
Will have her coming out party at the Chapter 5 IHC collectors summer show to be held at the Antique Acres annual show Aug 19-21 in Cedar Falls, IA

charile,

I bought the Fram 15 years ago at farm-n-family, the Fram catalog said to buy the model I bought. never worked right. Went to CC dealer and got the correct one- end of problem. the wrong filter seemed to create a situation where the pump sucked in or entrained air in the hy-tran, causing bad behavior.

Dave,

I have never seen a set of rear tires like those before....interesting tread pattern!

David - I guess you found the other front wheel that was missing in your earlier pic. Now, how bout those rear tires? "Schenuit, Baltimore, MD" Never heard of them. Did a quick Google and found nothing realy except a court case in the 60's, and possible re-development of the original factory in Baltimore. The tires in your pic look almost new. How could that be? Did you work some magic on them?

They were really crappy when I got the Cub 2 years ago, but not cracked or weather checked??
I scrubbed then down w/simple green cleaner, let 'em dry good.

Then practically gave them a bath with Armourall tire foam, a couple of times. and Rubbed it in real good and let 'em set overnight. They are however pretty stiff so will let 'em sit in the July sun for a few hours before mounting them. gonna put tubes in 'em just to be on the safe side as well.

Might make it in time for the 4th parade next Monday, I hope.

Charlie - ain't never seen many 60's Bolens machines (did they really make many?).

David - dang, I was almost thinking those tires were NOS. You sure did a nice job with all that magic stuff. Hey, according to my calculations you should have just enough time to finish up and make the 4th of July Parade
(assuming you're back to using 2 hands now).

Finished painting the rest of the wheels and the hood along with the "O" hood while I had enough paint left.

Beat on the fenders some and got a few dents taken care of. Tomorrow we will do a little more finishing on it then shoot it w/IH Iron Guard.

Now, if I can just find that darn dash tin I bought from Harry last winter!!Have a July 4, 1:30 PM deadline to make!

I will get this sorted out!!!!

As long as I'm suckin air and above ground "THIS" 149 will NOT end up in the yard with grass growing up around it with some fancy new zero turn blowing clippings all over it!
No WAY! Not on my watch!!!!

Jason,

Hang in there, you will figure it out.
Just think, you could have slapped in another rear end and mowed your yard the other day if you had one of these:

Jason,

Yes, that's the same one. It is my "working tractor."
It has a spring assist, so it lifts my attachments pretty good.

I guess I like GD tractors because they are relatively low maintenance.
Both types of tractors have their pros & cons.
It don't matter which type one prefers as long as it has an

on it!!!!

I've toyed with selling 1200 when I got first 1450, then again when I got second 1450, then again when I got 782, I just need a bigger shed, lol.
I love banging that gear shifter, so-to-speak. My pops loves the hydro and hydro lift. He's used the 1200 and strongarm lift, but he has his choice of course goes for the 1450.
I just missed out on a 129 the other day, good worker it seemed. Jason be careful, yeller n' white fever can turn red and get contagious fast!
