1a_scratchhead.gif
ing,,, wait a minute, wait just a dang Minute,,, ONE Project at a Time or else I'll end up with a garage momma can't pull her car in then I've Had it Guys! But the more I THINK ABOUT IT!!!! UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway had Trailer on 149, "you guys know where this is going, Right" and as USUAL set parking brake to open gate to get in Back Yard. I actually Free'ed up the Siezed Brake Pivot, during Refurbish, has about 1/8" or so of pad left so figured didn't HAVE to re-make pads at this point. Even scored the springs to keep pads off rotor and had them working! Haven't adjusted them since refurb and WELL, when I went inside to get a cold drink with 149 "PARKED" on slight incline patiently waiting my return I Herd a loud CRASH!!!

I thought OH FRICK! Ran out and No 149 and No Trailer! Rounded the side of house and seen THIS:

305560.jpg

After I removed wheel to access damage, AND my Son's BMW which is what Ultimately stopped what I can only imagine as a Side to Side Downhill Jack-Knife!!!!

305561.jpg

Anyway, I've had nothing but visions of my poor little 149 getting slung violently side to side like a squirrel in my Dobermans mouth until finally coming to rest against my son's BMW.....

That poor cubby. It took me a minute to figure out it was going BACKWARDS out the drive.

Don't feel bad one second for parting a QL. That's what they are used best for. Keeping the good looking tractors running.

Hope your son isn't too pissed. Maybe a chance for him to put a few more mods on the bimmer.

Jason-

I still can't see what happened to cause that tube to break. That is a nice yellow "tattoo" on your sons car. And you have probably a $50+ wet spot in your drive too. Got any kitty litter???

Just ignore Nic's comments as well. Some people wear sunglasses with the lenses way too dark (LOL). QLs are just fine.

.

Jason-

Man I didn't see that fender in the first pics. Don't worry, they're out there too. It reminds me of the time when I was a much younger man and got home from school to find our 128 down a steep hill and resting up against the chicken coop. I still believe it was done by some youngins' in the neighborhood.

The more I see that 1250 the more potential I see it having. Those rear rims look very nice and the fan even has most of its blades...maybe all.

I say put that 1250 on a back burner and go find a 1x8/9 in worse shape. You might even find what you need on a popular auction site (sorry Charlie).

OK, I'm done for now.

I wish I had that 1250...
Unfortunately I've seen too many cubs parted, even in my short life. You buy them for what you need them for, even if it's just parts. I would recommend holding on to what's left and keep it in good shape in case you decide you need another cub around. Coming to think about the 105 I dragged out of the brush, a tree had fallen on it. Could be why the tube broke. I'm still tossing around the idea of re-badging one of my 1450's and putting the spare k-341 in it, but, gotta spend the $$$ elsewhere right now. That 782 carb...
Well enjoy your day guys and gals!

I'd part the 1250 in a heart beat........it's just not that nice....especially when compared to the value of the parts when installed on his 149......

I've Definitely Decided to Part the "Parts 1250", To much work and to big a Project for my current situation.

That nice Rear Lift 3 Point hitch, thanks for clarifying that for me Wayne, on this 149:

305649.jpg

And although the 1250 has a "Non Bent" hydro lift handle, the old bent piece of cold roll painted black w/ Q-ball stuck on it has kinda grown on me!
Shift.gif

Anyway once that happens and I get seat pan upholstered and headlights in, w/ maybe even some AG's!

The 149 will be

Shultzie, did you happen to notice the brand of trailer that Jason got with his parts 1250?

Hydro Harry- I'd like to thank you for the reply to my question about where that conductor wire is routed to the rear tail light of my IH Cub Cadet 125!

Yes, exactly as the Correct Police describe, in rout along the right side-bottom of frame with about three (3/8ths) conductor clips! That is what I have, and thrilled about that!

Thanks!

Jason- Amazing how accidents can happen (wheel chock on any incline). Well, you found a great parts tractor, and while I agree with the notion on "living" again, having it is a huge benefit to your 149. I'd hold on to the 1250 for just that. It's still here and not in a scrap yard!

Jason - I'm at a loss for words (and for me that really never happens). I've studied your pics and I'm wondering if you may have even bent the frame of the 149. And the fender pan assembly looks like it's beyond repair that wouldn't be noticeable. It's all just such a shame to have happened to what was such a good tractor. And even worse having damaged your son's car. It wouldn't surprise me if you're wife said she didn't want to see anything yellow ever again (I just hope she doesn't look in the garage often).

(Whew, I'm trying not to get ill here) - After learning the details of your situation and getting a better look at the 1250 I see how it's now definitely a parts unit. You may even need to use the frame (although it is slightly different from a 149 but only the Correct Police would know). I also think the fender pan on the 1250 is probably beyond restoration - I think I see an area that has been cut away - so you'll have to find a good fender pan. Many have damage to the battery box area so be careful in your selection.

John L - glad I was able to help you verify the routing and locate the clips. Those little buggers are hard to remove and even harder to re-install so I'm almost positive your 125 came from the factory with the head and tail light option.

Now - I need to take a rest and check some other things so I can sorta forget what I just saw on here (Jason's pics). Whew.

The correct police and the PTO police know why the 1250 frame isn't suitable for the 149 manual PTO! I see the 1250 has a brake pad (rubber) that would look nice on the 149.

Jerry H,

Actually that was one of the Biggest determining factors in my decision to Purchase a 149. I wanted a manual PTO w/ hydro lift, the thought of being able to feather and/or ease into it appealed to me!

And although the "rubber" for brake pedal is the very least of my concerns at this point,

greenthumb.gif

Shultzie,

Your Statement "I'm glad no one was hurt" really hit home!!!
I Really appreciate your empathy. It wasn't until the realization that boys car and 149 are possessions the can be replaced or repaired set in that I realized how dang heavy that trailer is, how far it traveled, how fast it was going, and the Force and velocity that the 149 was slung into BMW with causing cast iron rear end to snap like a wooden tooth pick that I also actually became thankful no one was anywhere near that whole disaster. I don't think they would have had time to jump out of the way, and jack-knifing like that would have been hard to make a split second decision which way to jump!!!!

YES Could have been Much MUCH Worse!

Thanks!!!

Jerry - oh no, now we've got PTO Police too!!!!! I did notice Jason's 149 has the later style Blade/Brake PTO. Wondering if he had figured out that difference from the earlier style without the brake.

Jason - hey, just think - you should have 2 of those J-shaped Quick Attach latch springs on the 1250 parts unit. Usually only 1 goes bad so you can keep the other'n on your self for the future, along with lots of the other 1250 stuff (it would be to long a list to post).

Also - It hadn't struck me that you were so lucky no one was around when this happened. You're absolutely right that it could have been really much worse.

Charlie - I'm not sure this is considered a "public" site. You probably need to post that info in the Park Rapids Enterprise paper, or maybe even the Minneapolis Tribune
