I am having an issue with the clutch - sometimes it won't disengage....parking brake lever is broken
Fix your parking brake lever so you can set it when you park you Cub. I'll bet you a cup of coffee that's the problem.

Welcome to the forum, most of us who have been around for a while have a lot of expertise with these things. One thing you might do to help out with the clutch is to disengage the clutch, and when it is broken loose, shoot a little bit of penetrating oil or spray white grease in the area where the pressure plate that engages with the driveshaft slides back and forth along the driveshaft a bit.

Anyway, I got all 4 cubs together for a group shot. From left to right, I have the 102 that I'm building up, my 1650 parts tractor, my old 102, and my 129. In the background I have a temporary painting rack set up, where I got all the tins and so on ready for paint (weather permitting that is).

Well, we made it home in time for more bad weather (came through it in southeastern Ohio today).. Saw ONE more Cub on the way and it was a Lowboy...
Matt: I'll find the reference on limiting current in the electrolysis process, but I think it was a guy doing fairly fine toolmaker's tools... All the instructions I've seen say that you only need about a tablespoon per gallon, also that the waste water (not the crap at the bottom of the bucket) is a non-toxic base PH solution (water and laundry soda..). I haven't seen anyone mention these two cautions again (we did last time this was tossed around..)
1: Do this outside, it generates hydrogen gas (Ohhhh the Humanity!!!!!...)
2: Do NOT use stainless steel for your container or anodes!! This WILL create toxic waste!!!

Yep, I'm well aware of the hydrogen production and yes, SS electrodes are a big no-no...hexavalent chromium or whatever isn't something you want to be playing with. I've been using old mower deck blades and they work great. I knew I was saving them for something

Matt, that's fine plating. Looking at them in the bucket brought up the image of added material. But you did a fine thing there.
 
I have this shaft I got with a bunch of parts .
It is 10/13 16th's long.
3/4" dia
It is splined on both ends with a 1/4" hole in each spline.There are 6 splines
Spline length is 2 1/2" on one end.
The other is 1 3/4" any ideas ?

Matt, if you reload bullets or know someone who does you could maybe borrow their tumbler.Corn cob or walnut shell media would polish them bolts up quite nicely. I use corn cob media that is sold in pet stores as small animal bedding/absorbent in my tumbler.It works great for cleaning and polishing brass.

Has anyone ever had a problem with an ignition switch not opening the running contacts when turned off. I'm not positive this is my problem yet but my Battery on my 122 keeps draining.

I have a 122 and a 104 that need a little motivation to run. I wonder it that method would work on them.
 
Richard, you know - THAT makes perfect sense - because I never set the parking brake (ie, never depress the clutch pedal while the machine isn't being used.)

Probably compounding the problem - she sits out in the weather right now - in a few weeks, I'll be able to park it under a roof, but right now... no. So it sits there and rusts while it's not being used. And it's a 37 year old (give or take a year or two) old tractor.

The tractor sat longer than normal this last time too, because the previous owner didn't tighten the head bolts properly, and the head gasket blew. It was very hard to start with the blown head gasket. I removed the head bolts in sequence, put them in a piece of cardboard to hold them in the proper order, put in a new head gasket, scraped the combustion chambers with a plastic scrapper, torqued everything to factory spec (all around at 20 ft lbs, then 30 lbs once, and double checked at 30 lbs final and in the proper tightening sequence, and it started like a NEW engine - I was amazed.

And then the clutch problem - but it rained a lot during the week the Cubbie was out of service, and it sat unused too.

Bruce, Brendan - thanks for the help - I'll put some grease on the areas you mentioned tomorrow.
