both equell condition ....decent.... 129 shaft sticks straight out of diff.and has creeper 169 hyd lift and snow blade has l/r hyd piston

KEN - In looking at the wiring diagrams, if you took all the wires off the old bad solenoid and and kept them together and put them on the terminals on the new solenoid even though they're "Different" they appear to be electrically the same. Not sure about amperage rating, duty cycle, etc. etc. ohhhh and how they each mount up. I replaced the solenoid on the 72 about 17 yrs ago....haven't had to touch one since. I'm actually surprised, the one for the WF looks like the glow plug relay on my PSD except it's missing one small terminal that's a duplicate of the other small terminal.

LANNY - Not sure what you mean by "PTO GEAR" in the rear housing. A 129 is a hydro and a rear PTO was NOT possible. A right angle gearbox was part of the drivetrain for the rototiller. Is that what you mean?

Only difference between a 129 & 169 is the engine, and the 169 possibly has hyd. lift. And there were fewer 169's made than about ANY CC. EVERYTHING else should be the same. I can't or won't comment on if the tractor is "Worth it" since that's against forum rules you & I agreed to when we signed up for this forum. And not having seen the tractors they could be in really poor shape. It's pretty disgusting how some people treat Cub Cadets. Hardest thing in the world on them is leaving them set outside for years on end.

I would offer the seller $300 CASH for BOTH tractors.

LANNY - The 129 as I said IS a hydro, and the rear PTO & creeper are gear drive ONLY options. Sounds like someone swapped hoods. It's actually a 128.

Lanny, sounds like it's actually a 128 (gear drive) not a 129. Like Denny mentioned below, only a gear drive would have a creeper. If the blade has the hydraulic angle then that 169 must hydraulic lift AND it also must have front hydraulic outlets. If you can only get one get the 169.

There is no substitute for cubic inches, 169, everything else being equal.

thx guys wasn't asking if price was good thats in the eyes of the beholder i go look at them tonite he said 129 had impliment gear out of back both have always been kept inside ..so he says neither are smokers so i will find out and thx for input i think i will get the 169 if in decent shape

Dave i thought cubic inches only mattered on those bowtie things all being equal of course 509" mopar is what i have.

Lanny - I'd probably go for the 169, HOWEVER - since it already seems something is amiss with the 129 (sounds like it's a gear drive 128), I'd certainly have a good look at the 169 to make sure it is a 169. If it's a K series engine with 10 head bolts it is a 16hp. If it has 9 headbolts it could be 10-12-14hp. I see you're somewhat new to the Forum so for what it's worth I'd say, in general you'll develop a feel for which is the better tractor as you look at them, based on how well it starts, how it sounds, looks, etc. Once you've been on this Forum long enough you will discover AIN'T NO WAY to buy just ONE - Get'm both.

Old Cubs Never Die (especially 169's)

Kraig, Myron, Frank, et al - thanks for your very kind assistance on my quest for an Op manual for my 169. I know there are reprints and copies. I'd like to find an original in quite good condition. I even rec'd a couple e-mails identifying eBay listings. Sorry I had not done more home work before posting my request.

Charlie - are those things spools from the wire you use for making up wiring harnesses? They can't be wheels. They got no paint!!

They are rims yet to have the center welded into them for proper back spaceing.
Probly going on a cub with a FEL.
